Looks are subjective where as pricing is not. I'm nit saying the TWINS look better just better priced

I wont argue the Toyota cost more. However with the Toyota, your paying for better quality on the front end. I remember 5 years ago I bitched to my mechanic about spending $180 for a front O2 sensor for my 04 Tacoma that went out at 80,000. I'll never forget what he said, "You can spend $180 on your Tacoma at 80,000 miles or you can spend $2-3000 on a Colorado or Sonoma getting to 80,000 miles." My 04 now has 120,000 and other than regular maintenance (tires, oil, filters, timing belt, water pump) that was the only unexpected money I've ever had to spend on it.

Now I'm not saying GM doesn't build quality stuff, but I'll definitely think hard on the word of a man who makes his living working on all makes of vehicles.

I even said earlier that reliability is questionable but given all the problems with the 3rd gen (even if you acknowledge them or not) it's a roll of the dice either way now

I found the pricing to be damn near identical and no room for haggling on the colorado either in long island NY. A year and a half after they released the new colorado and you still cant find them on the lot, and it isnt because theyre selling so many of them. Ive seen more new tacos in the last few weeks than ive seen colorados in the past year. Not exagerating. The chevy dealerships out hear tell you to get a silverado instead when you come in to look at a colorado.

Amazing the only area we hear about all of these problems 100's of thousands of people are experiencing is in chart rooms and nowhere else. Perplexing.

    http://www.cheatsheet.com/automobil...-about-the-2016-toyota-tacoma.html/?a=viewall

The tranny software update. Howling holes plugged up front. A delaminating hood on a few due to glue at one plant eons ago. We're doomed !!!

There's tons of them here in FL. A lot of dudes that I work with on the fire dept here drive them too. I've only rode in them. They are quiet but ride rough. Interior is about the same as my 2010 taco. I will not but a new taco until these problems have been ironed out. I'm sure this new 8 speed auto trans in the GM twins will have its share of issues as well.

Hey bro, I don't start these problem threads. I came here to see how the 3rd gen was doing as I was about to go trade my 2nd gen in for one myself. I know people that have them and they have some of the stated problems as well. I know Toyota will correct it. It's just a matter of how fast or slow. Even the 2nd gens had problems at first, just not to this extent

I just bought a 2016 for the wife and while I admit the tranny hunts, and it is a bit bothersome, all these new 6-9 speed auto trannies hunt. They are constantly searching for the gear that will optimize fuel economy. It's just what they are designed to do. I have complete confidence the 6 speed auto in the Toyota will be more reliable and trouble free as the years go by than the 8 speed auto from GM. However this is JMO, it's not the Gospel. Hell, even the 4 speed auto in my 04 hunts like a SOB in cruise. I just deal with it because it's such a great truck.

I have 0 of these issues. Zero.
Toyota would be out of biz if everyone all had these issues. Yes ?
Most of them are BS anyway.

Holes that howl and are plugged.
    A tranny software update.
Glue on hoods at one production plant.
    Howling diff not everyone has.
What did I miss of ALL these problems ?

The bed separating from the cab ! LOL

Like I said bro I don't make these post. I'm not trying to sell a GM product. Never had one. In fact I've had a 1st and 2nd gen Taco. I was ready to pull the trigger on a 3rd gen like I said. I have been in 3rd gens with and without issues now. I've also seen videos people post on here with the problems. I never said 3rd gens are bad or toyotas trash. I just don't drink the koolaid. I'll wait until what I spend my money on isn't going to cost me more money or be at the shop longer then the road. Failing diffs, CPS sensors failing while driving. These things are unacceptable to me

I won't put my son in something that I don't have complete confidence in. If your truck has been 100% problem free I'm happy for you. I know my 1st and 2nd gen tacos have both been flawless.

You're dead nuts on. Well except whether toyota will fix all of the issues....not totally sure about that. Some of these issues were also on the second gen. Many of these issues are real I met with the FTS this week from the Denver region. He acknowledged that there are quite a few issues on the 3rd gen. He specifically came out to look at my rear end and said they've acknowledged it's an issue that's pretty widespread and they're working on a field fix for it. He also said the leaf springs are problematic on these trucks and he's not sure when they're going to get around to addressing that

And I have had toyotas for years, and we all know they stand behind their product is why they are number one and don't expect that to change.

Some of these problems I can live with as all vehicles have their own inherent issue. It's the big ones that worry my. Those are the ones that will make me not but a vehicle. A Searching trans is not one that will bug me. A CPS failing and leaving me stranded? For sure that would leave a bad taste in my mouth. New rear diffs howling and being replaced only to do the same crap again? Yup bothers me too.

While I know Toyota has a great record and history (including mine). This is just not right. As far as GMs reliability goes. I know a lot of people in my line of work with them (almost everybody drives trucks) and they are all happy with them and say they've had no issues, including the TWINS. let me state again, i don't care what they look like or if you would never drive them. I'm just stating not all new trucks have these issues. I am hoping the 2018s have some things remedied by then.

I had a GMC Sierra Denali the truck was flawless I had it for 3 years and put about forty or fifty thousand miles on it. It was a great truck but I decided to go back to the Tacoma for something that was a little more suited to take off road. I also had a 2003 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with 160k miles and never had a single issue with it it was Bulletproof

CPS on a few, really ? Was that Toyotas fault ?
That's like saying I won't be driving most vehicles because of the defective Takata airbags.
    Worse ! Amazing logic.

I had an 04 4x4 ranger ext can v6. Thing was a beast. Used it on our property. Just sold it, it ran like day 1 still. Too bad ford doesn't make them anymore. Really are good little work trucks.
