I was getting my 2013 Access cab cleaned up for a trip and decided to check the spare. The picture shows what I found when I lowered the tire. I don't believe the dents in the tire will hurt anything but I rotated it when I put it back up. In addition, the tire pressure was only 15psi. I think I'll be checking the spare a little more often after this.

looks rubbed, like it was loose enough to move slightly - probably from deflating while in there. Looks fine though. Like you said, rotate it and stuff it back in there. Glad you caught that it was low before you needed it. A little maintenance goes a long way.

I think I'm playing with fire with my spare tire....(hey that rhymes)

When I went up in size to 265/75/16 I didn't replace my spare which is 265/70/16. I should probably invest in a 5th tire so they are all the same size...been meaning too just haven't gotten around to it.

I just bought a used tire that matched my new tire size. No need to worry about matching the brand, its only a spare.

You can also flip the tire when its in the stored position so you dont have to take it down. Its still a good practice to lower it every once in a while to make sure the hoist is working.

Oh yeah, something to remember. My dumbass made this mistake. My original size was the sport 265/65-17, so my spare was the same 17" spare wheel. I changed my wheels to a 16" and went with 265/75-16. Then I bought a spare 265/75-16 not even thinking about the spare wheel being a 17". Took it to the shop to have it mounted and the guy came back out and kindly told me it was the wrong size. lol I felt like a complete retard. Then I bought the comparable size in 17" and had that mounted.

I actually put some rubber sheets on my spare where it contacts the frame and it helped stop those dents.
