    The u-bolt flip install is ridiculously easy, especially with an impact wrench.

    image.jpg

    Now I just have to figure this part out....

    image.jpg

    image.jpg
    Flip kit is arriving on Monday. Thought I could bend the hanger back as a temporary solution, but that fucker won't bend- even after multiple whacks with a full sized sledgehammer. It just kept springing back. I'm not good with metal....or wood....or concrete...I suck.

    Truck is immobile for now. May have to throw it on a flatbed and tow it to Cotati....

    image.jpg
    @Bentrodder

    Or I'll try to drill the rivets out tomorrow.

    Also, anyone want this stuff for free? OME ubolts that are only 1-1/2 years old. Great condition- just dirty. Cosmetic surface corrosion on the nuts from wet salty conditions in Utah. Should have rinsed them off...

    image.jpg

    Also stock bumps and ubolt plates. Free.

    Do you have access to a torch? I think the only way to get that to stay is with heat. Isn't the frame rail itself bent? The rail will have to be straightened before the flip kit will work. I won't be available until this weekend, if that works we can knock it out then.

    My brother's wedding is this weekend. Maybe the 17th or 18th if you're available? I can bridge the bent part of the frame with the Archive shackle mount for now, and just cut all of the stock shit off. For what it's worth, as weak as the stock hanger looks, it's structurally sound. You have to be really careless to bend one... It's probably when I slipped sideways off that rock.

    All pro from Wheelers.

    Mini-Mod day...

    This thing is pretty cool. Lube your shaft with one touch...

    Real work did happen.

    For some reason, I didn't get pics of the cool drawer. That was pretty cool.

    Anyway, good to see you guys yesterday! MJ, sorry about Riley's "gift"...

    ^umm yeah, but stock sucks!! Get the package. It's tried and true. Those leafs are the best upgrade for tacomas out there. You could probably peice together a lift of "higher quality" by browsing the b/s/t section, but for a one stop shop you won't be disappointed, thousands of guys have rocked the OME kit on here with no issues.

    Drop the dough!

    @Vrobledo3 @Maui123 @LeftCoastNerd

    And @ anybody else with knowledge on the subject... I'm looking to bring the fam to Hawaii this fall.

    Gonna surprise/treat the wife for putting up with me being gone all summer on these wildfires.

    Specifically Kauai and probably 3rd week of Oct. I was seeing flights for about $500-600 a head, is that pretty much the going rate? Changing days of the week only changed price $40 a ticket on avg.

    Is that reasonable? Or is there some super deal I should look for/wait for?

    Secondly, browsing vrbo for places to stay, 3br house for $250 a night right in Hanalei Bay, a block or 2 from the water... Sound reasonable? Is vrbo the way to go? Or is there a better option? We're two adults, a 3 yo and a 5 month old (by then)

    Weigh in if y'all could. Not looking to take over the thread, so PM's are fine too, whatever. Just looking for some advice from some folks who have been more recently. It's been years since I went last.

    Thanks homies...

    A few things
    Kauai is a fun and quiet island. We have stayed on the south end in poipu. Hanalei is a nice part, but in the winter the swells get big. Tunnels, just up the way from there is where I believe where that surfer chick got her arm bit off by a shark. 2 must do things there are the coffee plantations on the south end of the island and the Koloa rum place. The rum is awesome and they have tours on the property where you can see and try a lot of native fruit. Flight price sounds about right, I've seen them cheaper out of San Jose on Alaskan, but it may just be time of year and they weren't much cheaper. Not sure about house rentals, I've only stayed in hotels there.

    You've got it pretty dialed in. We stayed in a great 1 bed condo in princeville just up the road for cheaper than that through VRBO, great place, but too small for kids. The house deal you mention in Hanalei sounds like the deal my sister got last time. Better, bigger beach access. Seas were rougher in Oct, we were unable to do the small fast boat tour along the remote coast all week. And vis for snorkeling was not great. Did some great hikes in several very different areas all around the island.

    Prices for flights and lodging seems pretty accurate. I haven't heard of vrbo before, but I think 250 is reasonable. Lots do to in Kauai, make sure you check out Waimea canyon and Na Pali coast.

    Totally forgot about Waimea canyon, the Gand canyon of the pacific, many beautiful trails to hike there, including the wettest place on earth (if I remember correctly)
