I do not have the JBL system. According to the instructions, the install is a little more complicated...

    Yes, it absolutely does!

You hold the up arrow on the left side of the steering wheel control for five seconds to initiate the system. Once the system is initiated you can control all the functions that are typically grayed out while the truck is in motion. The drawback being that the actual global positioning (the GP of GPS) appears to be disabled, that is to say the Entune system loses track of where you are. Not sure if happens through speed sense wire or some other faculty, but it happens. Hold the up arrow for five seconds again, and the Entune system picks up where it left off, and the truck will learn your location again.

I have not tried this, and most likely never will. My interest was in being able to adjust destination settings while moving.

Don't know for sure, but I believe that it will accept an analog video input.

Are you referring to being able to switch on the rear camera at any time?

I was referring to the ability to enter info while moving.

I don't remember if anyone has done an "anytime rearview" mod yet. I'm interested in that also, but that would be a different thread.

Thanks so much for the responses.

I'm confused why you would get the more expensive AVITY-01 when you won't be using the feature that makes it more expensive than the VIMTY-05. I admit that I didn't know the product existed until I read your posts in this thread, so I could easily be overlooking something basic.

I tested out the voice commands for the nav tonight. Worked awesome. I just spoke my address and she got it right the first time. Was also impressed by the nav itself. Best ive had in a car.

I'm bummed that the CRUX solution is not plug and play for the JBL units. It seems like that would be pretty easy for them to do.

Thought the CRUX solution was JBL plug & play.

It was the non-JBL systems that required wire cutting:

You're not overlooking anything. Looks like I did though.

I picked up my truck July 4th weekend, and the first thing I looked into changing was the Entune system. I was hoping to modify the software but couldn't find a hack or a jailbreak anywhere, and my searches led me to the Crux website. At that time the AVITY-01 was the only system I noticed, I just wasn't ready to buy. I bookmarked the page for that model, and figured I would come back to it later. Finally decided to make the purchase and it never occurred to me to look for other versions, then I found it for $140 on Walmart, so I jumped on it before it was gone. I guess it was kind of an impulse buy.

Seen something in another thread as well, but think it was the CRUX that was posted because the member was able to mirror his phone on his HU. This is what I'm looking for, just want to be able to change the Nav while driving. Another thing to add to the list.

I would still consider this plug and play since you do the wire cutting o the WVITY-01 and not on the actual truck wiring, still making it completely reversible.

    Voice commands :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Now that's funny right there. That thing is fucking useless!!! It's like a bad joke. I set it up IAW the manual and did the voice training. Nothing like asking for the nearest donut shop and it points you to Doug's Oil Change & Fried Chicken shack

Do you actually decide you want to stop for donuts in the middle of a trip?

I don't always agree with smitty99, but when I do, sometimes I completely freaking agree.

Oh dear god the voice command is so worthless beyond the basics. My son and I got a huge laugh out of it on our last trip.

Maybe I just talk funny? Maybe my expectations (Siri, Google) are set too high?

I agree, the instructions are a little confusing on this point. However kjp4575 installed it in a non-JBL truck and did not have to make any mods.

I bought the VIMTY-05 but have not had a chance to install it yet. I used the online form to contact CRUX about the ambiguous JBL connector question. That was Sunday night and they have not responded. I'll try calling them tomorrow if I have a chance. I'd like to know for sure if the harness needs modification so I can take care of it before the installation.

Also bumping this thread to see if anyone has installed the VIMTY-05 or AVITY-01 on a 3rd gen truck with JBL. Anyone? If so, did you have to mod the CRUX harness?

Anyone know how to play video on the screen while driving. And no it's not for me, for the wife on our road trips.
