Big game fan here.... though not much in the way of board games.

I'm huge into Warhammer 40k and Warhammer in general. I've played some DnD, though we don't have a group right now. But that's really the wife's thing (though I still don't get why it's up to me to organize a group when it's her big hobby)

We also play a lot of Cards Against Humanity with the neighbors, as well as a new military themed game called Disgruntled Decks that we backed on kickstarter.

Aside from that, I've got my pool table and a small stack of board games including the Firefly game, Axis and Allies (original version), Risk, Monopoly and the like.

What edition are you playing? I haven't played since 3.5 was released.

What started as trying to fit Codenams and Pandemic Legacy to the collection ended up with me rearranging everything. And now with 25% more ban hammer!

Hopefully it goes over well this Saturday.

I'm having to schlep this collection over to a friends house. Luckily I have a metric fuck ton of milk crates in the garage.

I need to get a Catan set. I haven't played in years and it's only me and my wife so I would need the 2 player version.

Luckily we can get 3-4 people who would want to play it at any time.

I know they make Catan for the iOS. Have you checked the app stores to see if they have the copy? There may be single and multiplayer options on there.

3 man chess. Cool. have never seen that.
Used to play Risk all the time. My housemate used to wait for me to get back from work at 8pm, have the board set up and a friend of his ready to play. Some of those games went into the wee hours.

I miss the longer play games.

Sure, the short ones are great. But after a while, I want something with more depth.

We were playing 4th edition. I know it gets a ton of schtick from people, but I rather like it, and the last time we had a group, the DM ran that edition simply because it was the easiest edition for us all to get materials

Had game night this weekend. Posted on the invite to see who wanted to play Battlestar Galactica. I warned people it was a 3+ hour game. People started whining when it hit the 2 hour mark.

I like long games myself, games like Risk that can take upwards to 5 hours with 4 or 5 players.

One of my friends recommended Dark Moon as an alternate to BSG. It's similar, but without the time commitment as BSG. Oddly enough, his wife just reviewed the game for her channel.

Seems fairly straight forward-ish. Probably not a game to get new to board gaming peeps in on. But seems like a good stepping stone after the Resistance. I think I'll probably pick it up soon.

I was speaking with my old RPG group last night. We had a friend, and epic GM pass away this week. So we got together to go over old RPG tales through the years. And I thought it funny to see how we pretty much all transferred over to board games. I think the last campaign I remember hearing them running was about 4-5 years ago.

However, I do need to get off my butt and work on a Dread game I'd like to run for RPG newbies.

"The Captain is Dead" is a great board game. I tried it out on tabletop simulator a few nights ago. It's a coop board game and your ship basically gets damaged by aliens and boarded throughout the game. The goal is to repair the jump core before either A. your ship blows due to too much damage or B. your ship gets overrun by aliens and you don't have enough action points left to do anything about it.

Sounds like Space Alert. But with less yelling over an audio track. Lol

Yep, no audio. You get a ship full of systems that get damaged or destroyed over time. You have to balance out repairing them and getting the jump core online. Every time a player ends their turn, they draw an alert card that does damage, spawns a alien craft, or brings more systems offline.

Got around to playing Codenames last weekend. Good fun was had by all, except the team that lost 5 out of 6 games.

I also tried my hand at Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective.

We only achieved half of the objectives

I decided to go ahead and gift our nearby brewery some games. I wanted something that wouldn't be too complicated, and had a minimal amount of pieces. Our donations is on the left. The head brewer brought the games on the right.

Not only is it awesome for @TXSmiley and I because we don't have to remember to bring games. But we also can share the gaming experience with others who want to try it out even when we're not there. We always get people asking questions when we play games such as Love Letter.

@TXSmiley had a girls night on Friday, so I ended up having a guys game night.

We had 4 players, which pretty much opened most of the games I have. But because our week was collectively hell, we went with some easy to pick up games; Catan, Code Names and Love Letter.

Taught two new players Catan and they loved it. And I also forgot you can't say "give me wood" when you're sitting around a table with guys.
