This might be a dumb question, but i am new to the tacomas and i am looking to buy a used tacoma. Now my question is this tacoma that i looking at is a 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 single cab manual with 225,000 i just wanna know what the average life these trucks get. All the help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to TW. Well maintained they will go over 300k. My friends 3.4L had 350k on it. But it depends on the care of the previous owners. That said any high mileage truck will be more likely to need incidental parts replaced and should be expected.

Only reason I am asking is that this guy is asking 6700 for it, it's a clean truck but I think it's a little over priced

Has the clutch been replaced or have records of service? That might help knock down the price some.

Looks really clean, though the brake fluid looks a little dark to me :notsure:

Looks like a nice ride, and if you don't buy it somebody else will quick. I'd offer 6200. Make sure it doesn't smoke, has decent power, there's now water in the oil, oil in the radiator. Take the oil cap off and see if it has any sludge buildup, you'll need a flashlight.

The 2.7 will be fine with a single cab 5speed, especially if you put a header on. My truck is a turd, but mine had 61k for $6000, so I didn't care.

OP, that's normal price for Florida. The truck looks in good shape and has plenty of life left, but, expect to replace some parts

Mine was a 2003 with about 170k when I sold it in Ohio (reg cab 2.7 auto). Frame definitely had surface rust and I still got $5700 for it so that one being much cleaner I wouldn't be surprised if it did sell for $6000+

If you're not prepared to pay that - someone will. Decide if you want it or not and offer or walk away. If I was the seller I wouldn't drop the price, he'll get a buyer.

300k is nothing, no matter where it lives.

    Hiw tall are you?

My wife has a standard cab. I don't like to drive or ride in it for more than 50 miles. Seats don't recline enough for me and I'm only 5'8".

I disagree. Besides frame, which I do think is important to make sure is sound.. the others would not be something I would pay close attention to when buying a 225K Toyota. Like other post's have said; your going to have to replace stuff! thats a given. If you don't like tinkering with 16 yr. old trucks, consider other Toyota possibilites... there are many. However, I don't think the price is too bad.. yes you could come down, but somebody's gonna scoop this soon

I suggest running a carfax, the truck was not always in FL.
