eBaymotors had a couple 4x4 RC the other day 20k and up asking price. They've been popping up there at dealers sights mainly.

These tacos are hard to get. I was lucky to get mine when I did. It was used but with low miles. Good luck finding one.

I put a deposit down on a 2012 with 37K miles. It seems gently used and I'm really looking forward to picking it up sometime this week.

    Yes. 2.7 auto 4WD.
Ive been on the hunt for a while. I had some dealers send me extra pictures and taken time off and traveled some distance to look at a couple of '14s. All had been worked/beaten pretty badly for such new trucks. Expanded my search and this one stood out for the year/mileage.

It's doing well. I like it a lot. So far I'm averaging 22mpg which is something I've never seen before in any of my past trucks. I'm sure that'll go down with the winter fuel blend and when I stop babying it to see how good I can do but for now I'm enjoying it.
Yesterday I added door sill protectors but it was cold, raining and they didn't come out perfectly. No matter I'll live with as-is for now and possibly replace next summer when the weather gets warm again.

I absolutely love mine. Wouldnt own any other truck. Mine is a Black 2012 2.7 RC 4x4 auto. Got it used last year with 29k miles on it with only a couple dings in the rear bumper. Frame was in perfect condition. I painted the frame and coated the entire underneath with rubber seal. Only mods I have is a toolbox, bug/rain deflectors, front brush guard and larger tires. Getting 22-23mpg. I change the oil regularly (every 3500-5000 miles) with Mobil 1 5w-20 advanced fuel economy paired with a Toyota filter. Ill drive this truck into the dirt. Id buy 10. But I can only afford 1. But 1 is all I need.

I plan to maybe lift it 2" or just level up the front. Once I get educated on that. And add a headache rack. But other than that, nothing else is really needed. Unless I plan on towing anything.

Gonna add a CB radio too. All big riggin 4 bangers have a CB :)

My personal take on the AC, 4cyl, 4x4.

I think that it is a good truck, but I would not purchase another one once selling mine after a year and 16,000 miles of use. I took the truck on a 13hr road trip by myself and some camping gear. The truck was small and my gear alone took up half of the cab; this truck would not be suitable for more than 2 people on long trips. Plus, you have to throw your luggage in the bed in order to make room for a passenger. The seats cannot recline which makes it uncomfortable for others as well. I also found the truck to be underpowered and slow. I was running 265/75/16 BFG A/T's. Sure, this is a heavy tire so I was expecting to lose some power. However, the truck had trouble going up mountain passes and I had to shift down to third gear to keep up with traffic.

If I were to purchase another Tacoma I would surely get a double cab, short bed, manual transmission, 4x4, and v6. I currently drive a Toyota 4runner (1994) and I find the extra doors very helpful as I usually haul more than two (warm) bodies around. I would like a truck that is capable to towing up to 5,000lbs.

    -however-

I see that you purchased your truck already and it is a good shape. Congratulations on that purchase, I hope it does you well!

Thanks man. Those are valid points. I had 265/75-16 BFG T/A KOs (E) on my previous (2006) Xterra (we had 2 of them). You're right - those things are heavy and would be awful on the 4cyl Tacoma.
For family duty we have my wife's AWD Venza and of course we kept my (2005) 4wd Xterra by giving it to my son. Now I have the 4wd Tacoma pickup that replaces the old 2wd Ford Ranger pickup.
I'd say we finally have the right mix of tools for every job and they're all winter ready, which was important to me.
