I'm thinking of heading to Maine this weekend. Any ideas on a good ocean town up there? I'm looking to get the "Maine" experiance lol.

When we used to visit there, we stayed in a cabin right next to the Penobscot River that a family friend owned. That was in Bucksport. It's been years, but IIRC, that's a nice coast town. Not sure what hotel accommodations they have, though, since we didn't need to look. And the other Fort Knox isn't far from there I believe. It was manned during wartime, but never saw battle. That's cool to go walk through. Another town we'd visit, and I suppose it is good for that "Maine experience" would be Bangor. It's a bustling place with lots of little shops and great food. Also has whale watching, though we never ended up doing that. Maine is beautiful, especially in this warmer time of year. Plenty of long roads lined with nothing but Pine Trees. It became very obvious why it's called the 'Pine Tree State'.

I went couple months ago, go to Acadia and stay just outside of it. Plenty of campgrounds in the area.

Oh yeah Acadia is excellent as well. Some of the scenery there is breathtaking, especially atop Cadillac Mountain.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward Bar Harbor/ Acadia. Just doesn't seem to be much nightlife. I'm looking for a balance since the girl isn't quite where I am with the adventure stuff

Can't speak for the nightlife. Not only am I not into partying and that type of fun at my age now, but the last time I was in Maine was probably over 10 years ago, so my parents didn't exactly take my clubbing.

Bar Harbor has some cool bars/pubs and lots of shops. Did some day drinking in there. Acadia is more nature site seeing but still rad. We stopped in Portland on the way home for some lobster rolls from a place recommended to us. I was surprised at its city atmosphere. The lobster roll place was a bunch of hipsters, not hating on it just facts.

Yeah, my experiance has always been disappointment with the smaller citys. There usually depressingly abandoned and nothing to really excite me

You realize that some people embellish/exaggerate stories and they aren't to be taken as fact right?
