I'm ready to move out of my pretty nice 2012 Focus- would prefer a bit more room and something easier to get in and out of- not to mention a big taller. I like the access cab model of the Taco. Hows the rear visibility w/say a level bed cap? AAre the 4cy AT truck delivering 23 MPG on the road w/ a cap? Are standard models easy to get in and out of and are they comfortable for longer trips? Thanks, george

I find the visibility fine with mine. The wife and I took a long trip in mine last year with no comfort complaints. You could check the 4 cyl forum for mileage inputs. Mine gets a consistent 25+ mpg (when I'm not 4 wheeling), but it is a stick shift. I would expect autos to do a bit less; 2WD autos should do as well, or better. Driving habits are probably the major factor.

Visibility with a cap is quite diminished through the rear view mirror, it's almost useless.

Are you wanting a 5 lug base model, Prerunner, 4x4?

@wake100 just added a shell to his truck and can comment on his impressions, he's only had it a few days.

I have a hard tonneau on mine, so visibility is unrestricted. Also have a 4cyl AT 4x4; get consistent 22-23mpg.

x2 on the visibility out of the rearview mirror w/ the cap. I find myself using my mirrors much more backing up now. It is nice at night though when people have bright lights that are behind you.

I have a cap and 15% tint all around(15% on the fronts, 15% over stock privacy glass on the rear windows). The truck can be a bear to see out of at night but during the day time the visibility is actually really good, especially out the front. A lot of newer cars have such massive and long A pillars they really obstruct your view. The Tacoma doesn't do that.
