I have a 2015 4.0 4x4. It has 35600 miles and I just replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the MAF sensor, throttle body cleaned, and attempted to grease the zerk fittings in the driveshafts. I also attempted to find what may or may not be a coolant leak. I've noticed a sweet smell similar to conventional antifreeze coming from the front drivers side of the engine compartment. I cant for the life of me find a leak, I've found condensation dripping from the A/C lines and that's it. Has anybody also had this issue?

I also have a 2015 4.0 4X4 with 20k on it and after I park it and walk around the front of the truck I occasionally get a whiff of antifreeze odor. Haven't found a leak and haven't lost any coolant. Have not noticed the odor with the hood up. Hopefully someone else will chime in with an answer or at least an idea.

Ditto. Mine has only 9500 miles. But I have noticed this on occasion when passing by the front. Same thing, no other indication of a fault.

Clearly this is not random. Must be some sort of vent or related to the overflow reservoir, but honestly I haven't even looked.

This drove me nuts with my 2015, dealer checked it on two different occasions and told me it was fine and not to worry about it.

Smelling it from the over flow maybe? I haven't noticed that on my 2015.

2009 here and have noticed on occasion smell from driver side also. Never a leak nor fluid level drop. Seems to be normal.

My 15 had a coolant smell I started noticing at about 15000 miles and the level started to drop to nothing in the course of about a week. I couldn't find any residue to indicate a leak. I made an appt and the dealership found a hole in the radiator. They replaced under warranty and smell is gone

    Coincidence? Maybe lol

I think I'm going to take it in to be on the safe side. I've got just under 400 miles left on my bumper to bumper warranty.

Sitting at the dealer now, tech said someone had spilled coolant when topping off the system and that's what I was smelling. I also had them check the transmission because it seemed to be shifting erratically. The tech said they would check it electronically, he drove it but said he couldn't replicate my complaints.

I have the exact same smell on my 2015 Tacoma 4x4 with 14k miles. It's on the drivers side grill area. I've looked closely and cannot see any signs of leakage. The overflow container fluid stays at the same level (not dropping). Really odd - especially since the vent on the overflow container is on the passenger side grill area.

I still smell it from time to time. Coolant level hasn't dropped that I've noticed.

Could it be - that right after engine shutdown, coolant in the radiator expands slightly, pushing excess coolant back into the overflow container. When this happens, the fluid being pushed into the overflow container is hot, and no doubt a couple of small whiffs of steam may come out of the overflow tube - not coolant, but just some air that was pushed through the coolant, which gives it the smell of coolant.

I will bet this is what is happening...
