No, I wired the first set of bed lights to the switch provided. But the second kit I'm ordering will be run to an interior 3 amp switch that's already wired and ready. This switch has a relay set up in my aux fuse box I built. Matt knows his product so if it says it requires a 5 amp and yours is 3 then I would add a relay to handle to power

I've had Matt's kit in my 2016 Tacoma and absolutely loved them. Primarily used when we would go out camping. It provided us private lighting that we could use without drawing any attention to us. Also when needing to find stuff in the bed, especially with the tonneau on.
I went a week in our new 2016 Tundra (yes I've parted ways with the Tacoma - no reason other than needing more cab space) and it drove me nuts not having my bed lights. Thanks to Matts quick service he has hooked me up with a new bed light system, and I opt'd for the remote this time around. It makes it a lot of fun to be able to dim the lights, make them flash and turn them off/on from right inside the truck.

Thanks again Matt, A+ service all around buddy. Enough rambling, here are some photos!!! They are quickly shot at night in the driveway. I can take some during the day and such if needed.

The view from under the rails. It's a super clean install and the lights stay out of the way of all the gear I toss in the back.

    IMG_20160902_210037.jpg
The button/switch is easy to place and allows for quick access from the back.

Lighting up the entire bed (under tonneau) with my cool blue.

Ordered the bed and hood light kits, great quality kits and easy to install with great instructions. Matt was great to deal with! I took my time installing lights as I am very picky, kits had all I needed. The hood lights are great and the contact switch works like a charm. I did not install the bed switch as I keep the tailgate key in the truck so I need to get inside the truck before the bed, therefore I ordered the kit for the install to a switch inside the truck. Sorry for the crappy picture of the inside switch. Love the lights, highly recommend.

Did you use a relay for that interior switch or is it fine?

Finally got these installed over the weekend. Took the Taco out to a bonfire gathering in Huntington Beach and had a good time with these lights glowing!

I hid the switch in the small pocket storage. I apologize for the dark pic, but it's in the top right corner. Very faint, but protected and unseen. Mine is the warm white color. Photo was taken with an iPhone 6. Not sure how it renders, but closer natural warm white light and not that cold blue tint most LED's are nowadays.

Thanks again Mattgecko! Very nice item you've introduced to us. The switch is of nice quality as are most of the other components!

Very interested man, also would like to view install instructions please (sorry). Still confused on a few things, mainly if I install a tail switch, can I turn it off when I need to haul with tailgate down without the use of another switch? How good is the sticky tape, any issues of it giving out in heat over time? Also interested in the lights for engine bay with hood switch. Thx man, looks nice & glad to hear the great reviews on your lights

The bed mounted switch will disable the tailgate pin switch if you need to drive with the tailgate down.

I use upgraded adhesive tape and not the cheap adhesive that the lights come with.

    I'll pm you more info.

Put this in the other day. A couple of observations I hope helps.

    1. Finding the frame wiring harness can be tricky near the bed, easier to look through the rear wheel well to spot it.
    2. Running along the frame you get close to the Cat near the engine bay. I melted my wire cause I didn't have it zip tied securely enough. I caught it early so I just soldered in a splice with some heat shrink and called it a day. But seriously, keep those wires away from the Cats.
    3. If you're debating inside switch and bed switch, I went only bed because that's where I'll be when I need it, and I don't have to run stuff through into cab and route wires. Easy install, took 2 hours and I was taking my time.
    4. Lights are so bright they are visible with the Tonneau on during the day, but not so bright they blind you.
    5. Sticky adhesive is 3M quality, very good stuff, better than Chinese stuff.
    6. I thought about doing this myself from scratch, but when you consider in line fuses, instructions, weatherproof switches, the right lenght of wire, quality adhesives, and 3 pieces that have short wires between to get a really clean install, I would not have save much and it was done quickly and neatly.

I'll probably do the hood light mod eventually, this was a easy, inexpensive, and very good bang for your buck mod. Thanks man.

I bought some of that adhesive heat reflective tape used on our race cars at work. You can the rolls on Amazon for about 15 bucks. Works great! Keeps the wires and plastic looms from melting or excessive heat exposure! The factory stuff has it also near the catalysts and muffler.

Multicolor kits include a remote and are special order only and can only be controlled by the remote, no bed or cab switch.

    Thanks Matt
