I need a plate bumper with a flat top that extends out from the body just forward of the wheel wells.
    Joint here 2 IMG_0272.jpg

My hope is to weld some receivers or posts or joints that allow me to attach a rack for hang gliders (or lumber) level with my Thule roof rack. Ideally such posts would insert behind the lights, near where this orange arrow is. FEW bumpers stick out much at this location. Even if you have only 1/8" I would like to know so I can mark it off the list of options.

Please provide the brand and model. Extra points if it has a front hitch receiver, is <100 lbs, cheap, &/or is available as a "weld it yourself" product. Very interested in Addicted, Relentless and CBI because of locality or DIY option.

    Thanks for the help.

    Why not build your own??

Find a used one to modify for making your attachment points

I can`t recall ever seeing a bumper that wide on the sides seems every one likes the sucked in tight look

Then trying to stay under 100 pounds is Aluminum a option ??

How much does your hang glider weigh max load of lumber ??

That was the plan. or just hidden hitch receivers. But it had been a year and I have not had time to do it. I work 80hr weeks and I have a backlog of welding projects that I can not outsource.... so... a "weld it yourself" kit might be the way i go, or new and unpainted and I will modify it.

YEAH SURE, that would be great. but i never see them on the used market.

Yeah, that is why i am asking.

I would like everything to be aluminum but it is not in the budget and I am limited in how thick my aluminum welder can weld. The modulus of elasticity of steel is desirable on a hitch. There are many plate bumpers below 101 lbs. Addicted Offroad's bummer is 80lbs and rock solid.

    Thanks for the help.

Yeah, i purchased a gen 1 over a gen2 or 3 or many other brands partly because i hate wide trucks in colorado. We have narrow trails. So it is odd that i need this.

And there is an alternative. I could put 2 (or 4) receiver hitches within the bumper pointing out, and make the rack 2 parts that slide in from the side rather than down from the top. But down from the top is preferred.

Not just 1 glider. Many. When you shuttle hang gliders you have 8 to 12 of them. And you want no play in that rack. Lumber and 20' metal sticks add up quick. lots of mass. And whitewater rafts, lots of windage. Idealy the front bar would be level with the thule rack and have 4 poles coming down to locations slightly for'd and aft of each other as well as slightly medial and slightly distal. But many people get buy with only 2 coming from receiver hitches in the E-E position of this photo. [IMG]
I wish i could estimate mass. Imagine 10 sticks of any metal and you are talking hundreds of pounds. 18' 2x4s? hundreds. I would rather it be overbuilt but modular, so it all ties together to a unistrut bar or bolts together so that 1 person can assemble it.

I owned a truck with a contractors ladder rack. That was such a pain in the ass, i only needed it 3% of the time yet it ate gas mileage, was loud, ugly, loud. And i had to duck under it if i was hauling tall things.

    thanks again
