    Noob question:

On my 2016 Access Cab 4WD TRD OFF-Road, if I subtract the curb weight from the GVWR I get:

    5600 - 4305 = 1295 lbs total payload
The 2016 Tacoma brochure also says 1295 lbs payload

However, the sticker on the door frame of the truck says "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 1150 lbs.
The Owner's Manual also says 1150 lbs for my truck.

    Why the difference?

I'd say a tank of fuel.

Could be. But my understanding was Curb Weight includes a full tank of gas?

Usually the factor of weight on some cars is a 150 lb driver, no cargo, and a 1/2 tank of gas.

I think Toyota should adjust the 150 lb to reflect most Americans. lol

I used to own a 1991 Acura Integra, and 1992 Acura Integra and a 1996 Honda Prelude. All those vehicle said it fit 4, but I jokingly said it fit 2 Americans up front, but only Asians fit in the back. It didn't help that I had 2 Asian friends who probably weighed 85lbs each and they fit perfect back there, so it really was a true statement as far as I'm concerned :)
