Absolutely high clearance if you plan on trails like spring creek.

Maybe it's less important for 1st gens?

Added benefit is that you get to cut off the body damage :D

^^^^This. High clearance bumpers for first gens "don't really exist" because they are already some what high clearance. But you would be able to cut the trail damage off

Seriously. I was BEAT from hiking, 14ers in knee deep snow make for an interesting time. Lesson learned, just use a little gov't grade methamphetamine the next time I'm tired mid-day.

Met up with @Night Eagle for a fun 3 day weekend.

Started off Friday morning by hitting Holy Cross. Has been on my list for some time and its never materialized until now.

Leo thought he could squeeze through the line I made. He needed a little tug and added a cute little dent behind the rear door:

    [IMG]IMG_0794 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Yes, I believe you @teamhypoxia , fresh snow up on the peaks, and we got snowed on coming down:

    [IMG]IMG_0797 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Took a different line coming down French creek, worked out nicely:

    [IMG]IMG_0803 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

    [IMG]IMG_0809 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Made camp at a cool spot outside of Camp Hale that @09blacktaco showed me last year. The pile of firewood I left was still there waiting for us:

    [IMG]IMG_0812 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Yesterday, we headed to Leadville, and cruised over Hagerman Pass. Took a fun offshoot on the way down on Frying Pan Ridge. Seldom traveled road that offered some excitement:

    [IMG]IMG_0813 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

    [IMG]IMG_0817 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

After that, we headed over to Marble and had ourselves some delicious BBQ, and then up Devil's Punch Bowl and Schofield Pass:

    [IMG]IMG_0823 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Down into Crested Butte, and up Pearl just far enough to find a campsite and watch the sunset:

    [IMG]IMG_0833 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Saw some deer this morning on Pearl:

    [IMG]IMG_0858 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Higher up, Leo Duratraced himself in the mud bog, so he proceeded to hit it a little more spirited. He forgot to roll his window up though:

    [IMG]IMG_0860 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

And the pass, coolest road in the state:

    [IMG]IMG_0865 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

Looking accross at the peaks and Montezuma basin:

    [IMG]IMG_0882 by brettbjorgum, on Flickr

And then hit the quick out and back up Montezuma for some more fun:

Another sweet Colorado weekend in the books!

Pearl looks amazingly like California, just with a bit less room for parking. Nice pics guys.

Luckily, more room for parking is not needed. We saw a couple hunters on an ATV, and two 80 series cruisers on the trail, and that was it. Let's keep it that way.

The Jeeps and rental side by sides can have at it at the shitshow that is the Alpine Loop. When I was at California, no one could even get turned around:

But... I only see one jeep and lots of Toyotas there... :D With lots of ATVs and Side-bys of course. It's definitely a more traveled area, though personally I've never been in quite such a shitshow when down there myself. Imogene came close a couple of times, and Ophir can turn into a traffic jam in a hurry, but my picture like what you just posted only has my truck and my parent's in it. Kind of surprised to see that many trucks up there at once since most people stop at Animas or go to Engineer/Cinnamon, not California. But then, that looks like at least two good sized groups there at the same time.
