This is kinda why I've held off, I don't want the cabin drone. Same reason I only did the CAI on
my 2011, it sounded like I changed the exhaust, had zero cabin drone and if I stomped on it
the sound was great. I'm most likely waiting for the CAI from aFe which should be anytime.

I used to have a Trailblazer SS with a magnaflow exhaust and that was much louder. I really like the sound of this one. It can get pretty loud when accelerating pretty quick, like when you're speeding up on a freeway on ramp. Overall though, I'd say its great. Although I should mention that I play my music fairly loud so I don't really hear any drone at all.

It was really loud when I first installed. Then drove about 500 miles, tightened everything up and it got a little quieter. I've noticed now with a couple thousand miles on it, its not nearly as loud as first install

Anyone with the Magnaflow noticing the vibration at certain RPMs mentioned in other threads? Trying to figure out if the buzzing is exhaust related and is no longer noticeable with a different exhaust.

yeah man! my 2011 in the same config as my new truck sounded awesome
with the volant I put in there. An exhaust swap with these v6's and the sound
has never been "right" for me.

Nope, just louder. For this engine I don't think a cat-back exhaust will really have any meaningful gain. Maybe a couple hp at the top of the curve and something you would only see on a dyno if that. So performance isn't really the reason to buy one. Then again, it's not really the reason to buy a Tacoma in the first place.

Ordered mine last week from Hott Exhaust and used a coupon that gave me $202.61 off. It should be here tomorrow :bananadance::kona:

Perhaps some folks who got the magnaflow 19291 installed and have had it for awhile can chime in here...

Installed the 19291 last week and man, it has some drone inside the cabin when hitting 2-2300 rpm. Don't think it's going to fly with the wife.

So before I end up putting the original back on, any thoughts, suggestions or comments from the crowd?

    Much appreciated!

Ive had mine on for about a week. Not super stoked, but I dont hate it. Drones pretty bad at like 800rpm to about 2000, Drones on the highway at part throttle.

No mpg difference, engine feels rev happier and the punch of mashing the throttle and the downshit and screaming seems to have mellowed out. If I had accelerate not at a roll it feels smoother. Not faster, better or worse just smoother.

I just had a Magnaflow custom setup done on Friday using a 4x9 oval center/offset, 2.5" in/out muffler with a 3" coming from the collector flange and 2.5" tail to keep backpressure in check. It sounds amazing and with the 6 speed auto in top gear at 70-80 it is near stock level quiet at part throttle. I was amazed at how quiet it was until you stomp the skinny pedal. I haven't had time to get sound clip videos yet. I am happy with the tone. Also, I had a shop do everything with aluminized pipe, stainless muffler, and tip. Came to around 350.00, which is a lot better than the bolt on catback setup.

What was your motivation for going with aluminized pipe? Purely cost?

Partially. The reason why the Magnaflow cat back is so expensive is all the mandrel bent, polished stainless tubing. It looks very nice, will probably hold up well, but not worth the money. I have used the same shop and same materials for years and never had a system fail prematurely. My Jeep had the same shop do a cat back. The tubing was still like new after four years, the stupid 40 series Flowmaster was rusted to shit.
