the few times I have teamed up with random ppl..I can never talk to them. does this game not allow you to hook up a headset and talk through the game? Or do you have to be linked up through xbox group, and not in the game, to be able to chat?

what group are you guys in. is there a way to be added or send a request? (instead of makin a profile and getting a randomly selected group?

 

To answer your question directly, when you start a raid or mission, you have to toggle to the team chat channel using the d pad. I always forget and I'm pretty attentive to the other people and revive/support when needed.

When you set up games you can set requirements like light level, mic and even say things like no squeakers, mature players only. I selected the box to be with people more my age. Average age of the group im in is mid 30s.
Im not even sure if ive met people from the group i was put in but when i post games i broadcast to all and state in the text that id like mature/chill players only.

Ive posted maybe 5 runs now and its been mostly a good experience. I did finally beat Oryx last night. That was a good feeling cause that took about 7 hours total. Now that i have the physics of that raid down ill never play it again lol.

Tonight is CoE farming. Hopefully the effects are good and make the 30/90 fairly easy.

 

Sure you will. If you want to get to max light quickly. Hell we ran VoG and Crota last night for motes of light (great way to farm the BTW) and we were done in a little over an hour. Crota can be done in less than 30 mins. Vog we can complete in about 45 mins. CM on Kings Fall is Golgoroth this week which is probably the easiest CM to complete IMO. We'll spend maybe 30 mins getting to Golgoroth then drop our alts in for the check point. Then run CM 3 times. We won't finish the raid after that. No reason too.

PoE is pretty good for farming but in reality I've gotten nothing worthwhile out of it. I still want the Soulstealers Claw but can't ever get the fucker to drop. We've got to the point we never finish the card on any character. We just get to 30k+ points on the first run and go see what shit weapon he is handing out. The armor is useless to me other than infusing so we never run the second attempt to 90k+. On top of that CoE is boring and too easy (my opinion).

*EDIT* If you really want some cool armor and max level stuff run Trials when it comes up. Also Crucible is a good way to level up with Shaxx.

 

No one ever uses it anyway in my experience. Any strike I've ever run I've never seen anyone join the chat channel. Not that you really have to coordinate your strat during a strike. 90% of the time I'm playing with my friends so we always use party chat on PS4

 

I will say the Night Falls are a useless waste of time now as far as rewards go. I got 10 strange coins after the NF this week. Said fuckit after that. The only thing about the NF is they have made it more challenging than it used to be which I like. Now... If they would bring back the glowing heads after you completed it I would do them on all my characters. Yeah.... I'm that vain lol

 

Im still a 326 so ive got some room to benefit from CoE cause 3 of coins. Ive had the best luck with CoE/3 coins by using it on every other boss.
At least thats been my experience. Getting my vanguard and faction up is also why i run elders or strikes. I have a shit ton of buffs to use.

I also have the sword quest line as well as the bane now.

So basically the dailys and weekly will be hit at least once to get marks or whatever bonus us available.
Daily mission is easy way to get 15 even solo with no effort.

 

Go into the Eye of the Gate Lord mission and run to the end. Pop a Three of Coins and kill the boss. As soon as you kill him pick up your exotic (if it drops) and leave the mission right away. You will have the check point at the boss at that point from that point on. Every time I run back to the tower I stop by and kill him. Easy exotic farm.

This was from a while back but the same applies.

*EDIT* There is a 15 min timer on each boss you kill so you can't just run back in and farm the same boss over and over like you used to.

 

But that ruins the point of getting vangard up correct?

 

Make sure you guys are preparing for RoI, exotic engram farming, stacking up on heavy ammo synth (25000 glimmer and some ether seeds from variks gets 100 heavy synth, also xur sells 3 for 1 strange coin) this will allow you to rank up your faction which is about 100 heavy per rank. Run VoG ans Crota for MoL and shards to replenish glimmer.

We plan on running through story and archon forge to level up as much as we can for the raid, then do the raid and then rank of factions. Burn your exotic engrams day of raid, most likely will be y2 stuff but will decrypt at higher light.

 

Assuming I even get everything i have up to 335 before it hits.
My goal is just to get there with my y2 stuff even though it may be useless in y3. Along with getting the y2 weapons i want done.
