Hey guys first post here and not currently a tacoma owner but I'm hoping I will be soon. I'm looking at a 2013 tacoma that has a 3" ready lift I don't know how I feel about this. I've done some reading here and everyone says get the 5100 bilsteins instead of the ready lift. I won't be doing alot of off roading but I'm curious how it will hold up and what the draw backs are. The truck also has 285/55r20 toyo open county's they seem to rub the wheel wells what the best solution to stop this? Is this a decent tire what could I expect for mileage with tires like this? Thanks guys

Welcome! 285s will likely require cutting to clear. Look up the cab mount chop. Check that it has aftermarket UCAs, as at 3" you won't be able to align it without. I would look to buy stock and mod the right way to your needs.

i have a 2013. I just put 5100s on it and i like it. but they also went on with 887 coils and a single aal in the rear so its stiff. But i also have front and rear steel bumpers to soften it up.

I think that if the truck is already lifted and aligned then you should be fine. Especially if you are not planning to wheel in it often. Also, is it 4x4? If not then i wouldnt worry to much about it.

Ready lifts are cheap easy ways to lift a truck for cheap. The only reason for lifting a truck is to get more clearance for larger tires, and larger tires give you more ground clearance.

Hey guys thanks for the response I ended up going with a 2001 dcsb wroth topper for an amazing deal. Nothing had been done to it so I'm starting fresh.

Great platform. 4x4? I miss mine 03 DCSB at times. Post some pics of the new truck!

Be aware of a possible rusted frame.

It is a 4x4 I'm taking it off road a little bit this weekend. While doing some hunting I'll make sure I take some pics.
Thanks the frame has some surface rust but nothing seems to be flaking. There was a guy that looked at it prior to me buying it he snapped a bunch of photos for his Mechanic who gave it the go ahead then it didn't work out for him to purchase it. I'm pretty confident the frame should last the lifetime of the truck.
