They are being produced! We just cant buy them yet.... there has been talk of them being possibly available for purchase after the last of the warranty replacements have been finished off.

Any idea the name of the company producing them? I've Googled it but only found the company who made the frames for Toyota. In which they no longer make them

I spoke to HQ last night. Someone should call me today. It sucks because the truck is beautiful outside and inside and has only 98000 miles on it

As previously stated, the rusty frame issue is vin sensitive to those Tacomas sold or registered in 20 of the northern states. DO NOT call the dealership and reference the "frame recall", the recall expired but an extended warranty was issued for all affected vins. Also stated earlier is that the warranty does extend the frame coverage to 15 from in service date. I live in Hawaii and I just dropped off my 2004 Taco for a frame replacement. The truck was sold in IL and made it to Hawaii in 2013. The rust was so bad during the inspection that they highly encouraged me to accept the rental vehicle provided.

Side note, I only recently bought this truck and have every service performed receipts. The truck underwent a 27 point inspection at an IL Toyota Dealership in 2013 and passed. This is a problem because the recall was already active and should have been inspected further. I will post pictures when the start my repair to show everyone how bad the corrosion will get if not stopped.

Sorry for the long post but I hope that everyone that owns a first gen (or early second gen) to run your vin on Toyota's recall website to see if you are affected, but when calling the dealership mention the extended warranty so that they know you did your research. Hope this helps, aloha.

Okay. So the 15 years is IF you performed the recall when they sprayed bottom of truck with some rust proof solution. 15 years start when you did it. My uncle did not do it so no replacement for me.

That's crazy...I've looked for 2003 and nothing ever came up. Mine is in good shape. I think the owner prior to me had it garaged or had a new one installed. I'll be buying one someday because I'll most likely always own a 1st gen! Love my truck!

Dang it! I drives me nuts that so many owners never had the undercoating done, just plain stupid! It was free for fucks sake and you got the 15 year warranty out of it! Your uncle is due for a small slap to the face when you see him next!!

Close, 15 years from in service date IF the frame was inspected/sprayed. Not from the time of rust proofing.

Can anyone confirm if Toyota will provide you with new shocks? I've seen claims of YES and NO on this forum.

    Pretty much stock right now
No shocks, but you do get new rear leaf springs.

Dropped my 2005 Tacoma off March 18th, 2016, Monthly picked up new loaner cars from Corrolla's to Camry RAV4 and a Nissan Frontier, Pick up truck October 5th. New Skyjacker 3 inch lift kit about $2,000 and one brake caliper $130. Total out of pocket $2130. New Frame, new fuel/Brake lines, Gastank looks new, new stuff on the suspension. Was a squeaky clanking old rust bucket of a trunk now not a single rattle smooth quiet and all brand new looking underneath. Muffler now has a small hole wish I had Tate Toyota install a new exhaust system. Still Overall for a 12 year Old Truck it is like a brand new Truck I AM VERY HAPPY!!!IMG_6352[1].jpg

The all new Tacoma has been launched back in 2015 and since then it quickly became a favorite for those looking at a rugged yet comfortable medium sized truck. Unfortunately though, there are still a lot of people holding from buying one and it seems that Toyota’s sales are not as good as we first thought. This is mostly because they are not offering a diesel while their major competitor, the Colorado, has one. Thanks to that it managed to snatch a lot of the customers that wanted a diesel truck. While Toyota said that a diesel would not make sense in the Tacoma in the near future because the cost would become prohibitive, we are almost certain that the mid-life face-lift of the truck will get one with the 2018 Toyota Tacoma Diesel.
    2018 Diesel Tacoma Price
This is because Toyota would lose too many customers for not offering a diesel. That would be a shame especially since they have plenty of diesel engines developed for the International market. Our best bet would be that the Tacoma will get a new generation diesel, smaller than that of its competitors but more efficient and probably more powerful. The price is still unknown considering it is more than two full years away but because its rivals are priced around $31,000, we expect the base diesel Tacoma to cost around the same.
