not everyone on here is a spoiled rich kid or has had everything handed to them (not saying you are but they're out there) and most of us work hard for the nice things we own... i'm not sure how I would have composed myself in that situation but I can imagine it would have been very similar but maybe some more creative cursing thrown in there lol I think he handled it very well and like others have said he got the anger out prior to talking face to face which probably saved the guy from getting thrown into the oncoming traffic lol

nothing was handed to me. a life is still more valuable than a truck or vehicle. have I been pissed all times I've been in an accident? absolutely. but I didn't die or become a cripple. therefore, I moved on and took my anger out on arguing with the insurance company when it came to settling.

Look at it this way, there are literally hundreds of members here every minute of the day. If you cull the herd by 20 or 30 folks, you won't miss a thing. A very small impact percentage-wise but a major improvement in "quality of forum life":laugh:

The dash cam protects the driver from: (1) the allegation of a swerve and squat maneuver; (2) apathetic/incompetent/unavailable documentation from LE that could impair the insurance claim; and (3) getting false information from the Volvo driver.

OK perhaps on #1 and #2, but on #3 not necessarily fool proof as a picture of someone is only a piece of the identity puzzle. We'd have to assume it also got a clear shot of some other identifying data or info (rear license plate perhaps) I did not see a shot of his license plate however and that's assuming the license plate is not stolen, etc.

Nothing is fool proof, but I've seen all three with some frequency.

On #1: Insurers sometimes query the rear-ending insured "Did the other party change lanes and then quickly brake?" Next thing you know it's your insurance company paying for your repairs.

Ditto for #2 on ending up with a claim on your insurance.

On #3: It gives you a better chance of ID. It also establishes the who, among the occupants, was driving. I've seen instances where people will play games with this long enough that the insurance company gives up.

Exactly... don't let perfect be the enemy of good...

No home security alarm is going to stop James Bond or Ethan Hunt level intruders. Still a worthwhile thing to have in many circumstances.

Same for dashcams.... We can come up with failure scenarios all day long, and it is good to outline the limits, but don't let those cloud over the scenarios where it can be a help.

better to have a dash cam and not need it, rather than need one and not have it....whatever you can use to make sure everything as accurate as it happened, right?

DOD Tech will be the same if not better quality and audio. I have two of them. Great cameras and cheaper price than blackvue

@AZDuck97 that sucks dude. could have been worse though. Great you have the cam no way of him saying not his fault. I was rear ended in december and the driver told me he agreed he was at fault then when insurance did their investigation (it wasn't significant damage no police on scene) the other driver said I cut him off and slammed on the brakes. Basically would have turned it into a 50/50 accident which to insurance is at fault. I just sent them the dash cam video of the accident how I was in the right lane for 8 minutes prior to the hit. Never changed lanes or anything. Right away ruled him at fault.
