Have heard it's a HUGE pain to remove them. Most I have read up on actually just get new lca's because of it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in on the removal process though.

I think it depends on which bushings you are putting back in. I did mine and replaced them with whiteline bushings. I took the LCA off and used the bottle jack method to pop out the old bushings. It takes some force but all in all it was pretty easy. Use some break free to free up the rust. Clean up the LCA and push the new bushing in. I used a rubber mallet to lightly tap them in. I think the biggest issue people might have is the cam bolts. if any of them are rusted in place its difficult to get them out and some have had to cut them out. You can get replacements. I think toytec has them. Heres a good thread on it.

    Yep bottle Jack method ftw.
You can also use the ball joint press method, here's a really good video on how to use it. Can be confusing if you'd never used one before as it can be used multiple ways. But you should be able to get them super easy with the bottle jack (just put a lot of pressure on it, and smack the control arm eyelet with a hammer and they'll literally shoot out, no heat needed), as well as just tapping the new bushings in like mentioned which is what I did as well. Or use the ball joint press. But that press Can be so precarious, I hate using it. If nothing else the vid will give you an idea of what to expect, then you can go about it how you want. The other threads posted above have all the other info you'll need. There's a vid in the whiteline thread iirc that shows the bottle jack method.

If you aren't using whitelines I think you need to keep the outer metal jacket and reuse it. Maybe someone else can confirm this since I used whitelines.

It's a pain when they replace them with the poly bushings. Because the actual rubber has to be burnt and scraped out of the sleeve as the sleeve is left in. Whereas oem rubber ones the whole thing is pressed out and new one in. A lot more involved with polys. And on top of that they squeak from what I hear. Not worth it imo.

Obviously this is an OLD thread. But possibly someone can shed some light on it. I have tried the torch and bottle jack methot. Just bent the shit out if the washer and just ate up the bushing. Now I have the sleeve still stuck inside. Bought a ball joint press. But the sleeve has a lip at the end and the cup of the press doesnt have any metal on the arm yo use as leverage. I'm about to cut the lip off the sleeve and try to use a cup that fits in the LCA and push it out that way. It that doesnt work idk what to do. I dont have access to a cutting torch either so I cant just cut the bitch out.

i bought a harbor freight press for this job and a bearing splitter. it worked. however the landcruiser guys just hammer out the sleeve. either use an air chisel if you have one or a cold chisel and a 2 lb hammer.

hopefully this pic gives you seen idea. not the right vehicle but same idea.
