Headstrong off road bilstein kit

    Anyone know how good this kit is? It's bilstein 5100s all around a Deaver AAL in the rear and old man emu 2882 coils up front with all the assembly parts.

    This would be to replace a spacer lift. My total would be $720 with front strut assembly and a diff drop kit.

    Also are the 2882 coils right for a double cab 4x4? I heard they ran a little stiffer than the 2880 (stiff ride doesn't bother me too much) but the 2882 settles less over time.

    So in all how is the kit? And should I order the 2880, 2881, or 2882 coils?

    - Flowmaster 40 series muffler, custom raised piping to get above leafs - K&N Cold Air Intake system - Rancho Quicklift struts - Rancho 9000xl Rear monotube shock absorbers - 2" Lift
    Check out the Rancho 2.5" quick lift for the front, and the 9000xl's in the rear. Just put em on my 01 4x4 and they're awesome! I have an awesome mechanic that hooked me up and I had them put on for just under a grand. The best part of these shocks is the adjustable dampening system. You can just reach under and turn a knob to adjust stiffness depending on terrain, and they even make a digital remote that you can program for specific terrains and change the suspension at the press of a button!

    The 880 and 881 coils are a 500# spring. The 882 is a 590# spring, so yes they will be stiffer and will settle less with no added weight. The diff drop is a waste of your money imo. It does not help with your cv's that I can tell. I have one and my boots still ripped. And to answer your question "how good is this lift?" Besides the bilstiens shocks is the most decent lift you can get for your truck before headed into high quality stuff like kings,icon,etc. At this pint why not just go with OME shocks as well. Better track record then the billys.

    Also I'm looking at the Billy's because they would be over $100 dollars cheaper and that's a big deal for me right now. I've also been recommended the bilsteins about a thousand times

    The Bilstein 5100s have 3 or 4 lift settings and one of them is 1.75. However the 882 springs provide about 2.5-3" when the Billys are set at 0 lift.

    Bilstiens is what everyone on here gets at first because they where cheap and then 90% of them regret it later. That's just my 2 cents. The best way to make the best educated decision is to do some reading on the suspension threads. You will see many opinions of what has worked best or sucked and why.     I feel like I should explain my situation haha. So I bought the truck with a lift already on it. It's a shitty spacer lift with a block lift on the back with factory shocks and springs. I'm worried about it possibly damaging the truck and also hate the ride quality. So I'm looking for something to last me 2 to 3 years (I only off road a few times a year) while I pay the truck off until I can afford to do some serious fab work and get a 3 inch long travel kit put on. So it comes down to either the bilstein/ome kit or the bilstein/eibach kit from toytec. I have a pretty strict budget and unfortunately the full ome kit is about $200 outside of that budget. Would I be able to get by with the bilsteins for a couple years? Even if it's only 2 years and then swap them out for the ome shocks.

    Most definitely man. The billys will work for sure. There is just a lot of guys that ask these same questions so I tend to try to help people get the better option the first time around. I was in the same boat as you a year ago and had all these same questions. Really though just read through the first few pages at least of that ome thread I posted ton of experienced opinions and pics in there with what you are wanting.

    For sure. So I read a bunch in one thread and had a question. They were all saying that the 882's are heavier spring loads and are taller than the 883's. So should I do 883s or 882s? I head having a double cab makes a difference so I just don't know what springs to go with

    The site says 1.75" you're right, but when I put mine on all in all it gave me about 2", it's enough lift for me, and what I do, and I love the adjustability option on the dampening. If you use the truck more as a DD, and off road occasionally, and don't want to spend more than a grand the Rancho's are your best option in my opinion.

    Ya I think there was some confusion years ago with the spring rates and such. The 883 is the heavy load spring. If you had a winch and plate bumper up front that would be your option. Since you are a double cab go with the 882.

    OK cool. Might be getting a little paycheck tonight. We will see how that goes. May just end up with the full ome kit with a Deaver AAL in the rear if I get enough on that check.
