Qi works just fine with my 2013 Nexus 5 and charges at a fast rate: 50% per hour. I am wondering what other pure Android phone with Qi is currently on the market, when it comes time to replace my Nexus.

That's not really a good test because the phone controls the charging and between 80 amd 100%, it slows the charge exponentially to 0amps at 100%. This is a trait of lithium battery chargers

So based on these numbers, 83 people use it and 110 don't use it.

I was right over a year ago, this is a fad

I purchased an iPhone 6 charging case for the Qi off Amazon. I used it for several months, but I am pretty hard on phones and needed a stronger/better case. It worked great but it has some limitations.

Every time I get in the truck. Moto droid turbo. Works great! Time to time I have to turn off the charging pad as both the green and yellow/orange lights just flash at me. But a quick push if the switch and she's charging away. I think that it's a great idea! As I hate using a cord to charge my phone and there is NO clutter with cords.

Or it is that iPhone took forever to adopt the technology and a large number of people have iPhones/Androids that don't support it (from the quick reading I did here). I don't own the truck yet (delivery is scheduled for early next week) and while this isn't a deal maker/breaker for me, I'm sure I'll throw my phone on there since it supports it. I think that would be a better check: "my phone supports Qi and I use it" and "my phone supports Qi and I don't use it". Not supporting Qi on a phone and not using it isn't really useful information to the technology.

Correct, but that doesn't change the uselessness of having people who can't use the feature vote they don't use it because of their phone. Don't need to be an owner to see that. A much better metric is people who can use it and don't, not people who can't use it and don't.

iPhone user here. I have a case that has the qi charging built in. Works great!

I use mine every day, never had any issues with it. I pretty much use Qi chargers exclusively with my S7 at home, work and in my truck.

This seems a little harsh. Your poll indicates that about 30 percent use it regularly. For the last few years, Apple has had roughly 30 percent of the smartphone market share in the US, and I certainly wouldn't call the iPhone a fad.

Source: Google smartphone OS market share. I won't put a link here, I'm leary of links in forums, but the info is easy to find.

I use a Galaxy Note 5. Had to remove my Otter box case for it to charge... did like removing the case but the case only cost $30 and the truck was $40k... since it came with the truck it was a no brainer to take off the case.
Why wouldn't you use it.... no more cords....
I think Toyota needs to keep it but work out the kinks with QI to have a better connection with the majority of call phones... especially IPhone users.

It would not be entirely surprising to me if the iPhone 7 comes out with wireless charging, but it is proprietary much like the lighting cable, and won't work with the Qi system.

    Truck stuff
I love the Qi charging. I added the adapter to my Note 4 and keep it in an Otterbox case. The adapter just sticks to the battery and uses the original back. The thickness if the case slows down charging quite a bit. I could probably get a thinner case so that it charges faster but that just sounds like a waste of money. I also have to put the phone in a certain direction closest to the passenger with the bottom of the phone facing the passanger side. I have used my home Qi charger before i got the Tacoma and without the case it charged much much faster. At home or in the truck it charges at about the same rate. I find it very convenient to have a place for my phone to stay within reach because its a pain to dig it out of my pocket when driving. It also puts it in a place any passanger can grab ti to change the music. The only time i dont use the Qi charger is if my battery is really low and i need to get a lot more charge to my phone. When this happens i just grab my 2.1 amp 12v adapter and cable out of the glove box.

The charging worked great for me until.... I put a LifeProof case on it and it would not charge anymore with the case :(

Disagree. Most of the people not using it have Iphones and can't use it. Once Apple decides to include wireless charging on the Iphone, those numbers will fall as they upgrade their phones eventually. I was skeptical initially...but I find it much more convenient to use than having loose charging cords laying around the inside of the truck.

No, fuck this option. Two cases and it's still useless with my iPhone 6s
