Got my bedrack installed. I threw some lights on it, and mounted the axe/shovel and hi-lift to it. I like having the spare up top because it frees up the bed.

How much does the rack (steel vs aluminum) weigh?

This is the steel version. I'd guess it's around 100lbs.

So this covers the entire bed rails on the sides? Is there a reason it isn't cut out to allow use of the bed rails where the mounting brackets aren't?

I'd say probably strength. There are holes spaced out that are in front of the accessory rails that you could use. You wouldn't need the cleats though because this thing is covered in tie-down points. What would you want to use on the rails?

Nothing in particular comes to mind but I've seen creative uses to secure storage boxes or jerry cans or other misc. accessories. While the rack does have lots of tie down points, it is nice to have the bed rails that you can use instead of being required to utilize a strap to secure something that you may want to have a little more permanent.

If you wanted something permanent I'd just plan on bolting it through the holes at the accessory rails. They're spaced about every 5 inches. You can see them in the first and second picture. I think that would be much sturdier than just the side rails also.

    Some stuffz
I love the look of the CBI rack, especially on the Pro. Couple questions...because I'm having a hard time deciding between the CBI Overland, Leitner Designs rack, or the All-Pro pack rack. Is this powder coated? And if you wouldn't mind...how high from the top of the bed sides does this rise and what are the lengthXwidth dimensions of the top of the rack (not including where it slants down in the back)? Curious how much overhang there would be after mounting an RTT that's 72" x 48"

53" wide, 48" long, 14.5" high. Obviously this is on a short bed. Yes, it's powdercoated.

Some bolts, nuts, and wingnuts from Home Depot. I don't recall what size they were though.

That's a nice set up. Where did you get the rubber mounts for the axe-shovel? What type are they?

    Thanks.

Is it 14.5" higher than the bed rails? Do you know what the measurement from the bed (top ribs) to under the crossbars?
