So the Tacoma I recently bought has what I believe is a 2 inch spacer lift on it. I've heard horror stories about these things so I've been wanting to change that. But, I'm a poor college student. Now I found these within a driving distance to me:

    1995.5-2004 Tacoma 2.5 inch lift

    http://knoxville.craigslist.org/pts/5736299387.html

Now my question is: are these worth it? Are they actually coilover lifts or is it just a spacer? And should I buy them? I already have an AAL in the rear so I'm going to offer 100 without the shackles.

Also would these be easy enough for me to put on myself?

Question: since my rear is already lifted could I just buy some bilstein 5100s and eibach lift springs for the front to replace my stock stats and spacer lift up front?

What type of lift in the rear? And ya that's one of many ways to lift the front. The eibach springs will give you a little over 3" of lift and are really stiff (620#) best used with some weight up front unless a stiff ride does not bother you. Better option would be either ome shocks and lift coils (880 or 881) or the 5100's paired with a ome lift coil. They are compatible....what's the details on your truck? 4x4? V6? Etc....

To be honest I'm not sure. Looks like some type of AAL to me (I bought the truck with this lift on it). A stiff ride doesn't bother me (I'm used to a lowered GTI). But I heard anything above 3 inches is trouble. I'll check those out. I'm trying to stay around $400 for the front which is what the Billy's and eibachs cost. And it's an 01 double cab 4x4 v6 sr5 trd

The 5100's are adjustable and can be used with stock springs as well and you can get lift that way, preloading the springs is not ideal though. Go to wheelers.com or headstrong and look at the ome stuff. Its comparable in price and those coils would work better for what your wanting (500#)

sound advice... though with a double cab you could get away with OME 882's.... if a stiff ride doesn't bother you. I have 881's for my '02 Xtra Cab and they are great but sagged a bit over the years.

But to answer part of your question... you should be able to install those no problem. soak all nuts a day before removal and be ready to fight some stubborn rubber bushings... but you should be good with basic hand tools

Just do us all a favor and trash the spacer lift :D

If your interested in some new coils I have OME 880's that are currently mounted to nitros I purchased. Nothing has been mounted to the truck though. Coils are new just mounted to strut. I ordered 881's to replace them and just need to swap them out. 880's from what LowRange says should give you 1.5"-1.75" lift. New they cost around $160 plus shipping but will sell for $140 shipped.

Nope, they clearly state 1.25" to 1.5", which I believe is referring to extra cab's... meaning double cabs would yield less lift than that. I wouldn't entertain the thought of 880's on a double cab.....if you don't want to be posting them for sale before you put them on

So I went to head strong and looked at their kits. So far I'm looking at 882 springs, bilsteins all around, with strut assembly and no rear lift since I have some sort of lift back there already. It's looking like $631 shipped. That a good deal? I know from toytec I can get a full 5100/eibach kit with a rear lift for the same price but the struts arent assembled. I can't decide if I want to redo the rear lift. I'm not sure how I can tell what kind of lift is back there and what the size is

Post a picture and I, or any number of others, could tell you pretty quickly what you have.

I actually looked and it's a shitty block lift in the rear. Currently looking at totally redoing the suspension. Either bilsteins 5100s with 882s and a Deaver AAL or 882s with ome shocks and Deaver aal in the rear

I hate to sound like a broken record.... but you should really save up a little more and get new leaf packs. I just have a feeling an AAL is going to be a wasted effort in the rear, especially if the rear OEM leaves have had to deal with a lift block for some time..

Sounds like you got two solid choices for the front though  thats just a personal preference/cost issue now

Yeah unfortunately I wouldn't be able to afford that anytime soon. The AAL is only 75 bucks. I'm only needing them to last me about a year until I can redo the rear leaf packs. From what I can see the lift doesn't look like it was on there long/did much damage to the rear springs.

You got a point there. I'm thinking about an AAL at the moment as well, but can't even throw down $75 right now, not to mention they're pricey to ship
