Could someone please enlighten me on when this feature is used? In looking in the owners manual, it appears to be used by the dealer only. I recently had the transmission tsb done on my trd or ac. Wouldn't it be logical that a software change would show up here?

I believe that is only for entune updates. The head unit runs on software such as your phone does( just not android or apple), therefore sometimes an update is needed. It should not have anything to do with the ecu.

I thought it was associated with entune too. I don't pair my phone with the truck much, but I do remember the entune updating once by itself in the last 4 months, and it still didn't show up on the software update page in the settings. WTH?

I think this menu is where you can manually load updates from a USB memory device. All the entune updates I've had have come across from my phone using the entune app, so no need to do the manual process.

Connect your phone to it & you can update entunes. That's all it's for....other than adding hp to Smitty's truck of course.
