If you weren't going to get a tacoma, what would you get?

I have a 2014 longhorn ram ecodiesel 1500. 55 k on it beat the shot out of it on lots of dirt roads hauling bulk materials . . Couple really minor issues but it has been solid. I've never had a taco but am interested. The resale value and dependability for me are important. Fuel economy also. I average 20 mpg combined in my 6500 lb truck with toyo at 2 ten ply. My commute is a 4500 ft climb in a hr drive with 30 min off road. About 19 mpg. So Toyota is my second pick. I am really considering getting the taco for a second vehicle and maybe trading the Eco diesel for a three quarter ton so I can tow heavier. I'm really torn meanwhile I keep lurking out on truck fourism.
