Yeah I'm pretty excited to see what AMD's new processor does when they release this winter or fall. Lots of rumors but it looks like they went with a totally new design that is promising. AMD has really suffered financially since intel took a commanding lead in the market in the mid 2000's with their Core architecture. Skylake is an amazing chip and it sounds like intel will push a memory revolution in a couple of years as well so the competition should be tough.

Finally had time to get it set up.
So much clearer and colorful than my qnix.
The dial on the base sits in a pocket and has 3 settings for whatever mode you choose.
And you can access all the other display settings from it instead of on the monitor itself.

Damn, work buys me a new monitor for free but I can't decide what to get. I don't want to go to crazy either. In the sub $300 range what would you go for? I think 1080p is good enough for me but I want to drop to a 1ms response time and get on displayport. Am I crazy to think I can get something good at that price? Oh, and 24" is about as large as I'd go.

It looks very good :). Just hopped on some CS:Go. Like most cheapy monitors in it's class you need to adjust the settings but once I was done it looks great. The gamma does feel a bit off as the reviews have said but in game it looks amazing. FreeSync... well it's hard to tell until you play for a while but it's definately smoother than just plain 144 hz. With FreeSync though you must manually lock the graphics card to 144 and below FPS. It's really easy to do but if you forget the damn card will start throwing out a framerate the monitor can't handle and glitch for just a moment. Apparently it's a problem all manufacturers are working on and a case of one thing G-Sync does better (automatic framerate limiting) but once you manually cap it in Crimson (AMD control software) you are golden.

It's almost comic how much better this monitor is over my 7 year old 1050p 22" monitor. I paid something like $500 for that monitor years ago and it sucks balls comparatively speaking next to this $300 monitor. However from what I've read I jumped in at just the perfect time with FreeSync, 144Hz, and 1080p. The very first monitors with those features have been out about a year and the good economy ones for only a few months. Long enough to get the kinks out and find out which deals are there to be had.

Id love to get back in some cs:go and im building 2 computers for peeps switching from xb1 to pc just to play cs:go.
Apparently one of the younger kids is ranked in the top 100 for modern warfare on xb1 but since all the egame stuff is being broadcast, he want me to build a pc for him.

I will clarify. I work out of a home office. So basically I have this monitor hooked up via HDMI to my work laptop for daytime work and hooked up to my tower PC via displayport for night time gaming.

I was having some eye stress issues with my stock laptop screen and work suggested I buy a bigger 1080p monitor on them. My gain on both ends.

If you ever hop on CS:Go my steam name is the same as my tag on here. Look me up. I'm not a pro at all so I'm sure we are close to the same level lol.

Had a great weekend catching up on some great racing. I don't race as much as I like to with life being so busy
but when I do, I usually like to run a few hours. Had a pretty awesome time with some friends.
If you click on the banner below, it shows my complete stats at RSR...but in a nutshell..

    16 World Records :)

I ran a new track which was just released so alot of people hadn't had the opportunity to run it yet
or it wasn't there cup of tea. That's ok by me, I'll take what I can get!
