I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling about my upcoming 1600 mile road trip.
Mine has 1800 miles currently and I have a faint howl.

The howl doesn't indicate it is about to fail or anything like that, it is just extremely annoying. It can indicate premature wear or improper meshing of the gears but you'll be safe on your trip. Mine has howled for thousands of miles now, it just finally got so annoying that I took it in. Replacement on the way, no ETA yet. They are having me drive my truck until it comes in, they don't believe either that it is in any danger of suddenly failing.

I gotta call bs on disconnecting the driveshaft. Not that it cant be done, but i wouldnt want to do it on the side of a road. And they wouldnt want to risk your front diff turning out of their garage, onto paved roads, up to 45mph and back in with only front wheels being powered. If they did, id prob ask for a new front diff too since thats likely damaged now...

not really. a high country 3500hd, platinum F350, or a limited Ram 3500 are expensive trucks.

Its like 45 bucks for 5 qt lucas 75w90 synth. And takes all of 10 min to do. Think 9 min of that is opening bottles and watching oil drip. Good to know how to do, especially if you ever drive through deepish water and havent done a breather mod yet...(yeah i did that). Mpg went up a hair (likely coincidence) whining sound went down and now i know its at the right level. Actually realized my breather was gunked up too so that got tossed and new fitting and extended breather installed since i was there
