A while back I upgraded my rear quarter windows (vent windows) on my 1st gen extended cab to power. I did this by taking parts from a dodge caravan and combining them with new geared motors from Amazon. I did this a one off project to make the rear vent windows useful on my truck.

Right now I am working on developing a kit that I could potentially sell on here that would allow anyone with a 1st gen ext cab to make their rear vents power. The kit would most likely include two motors, linkages, mounts, and wiring. I would probably leave out switches since everyone seems to have their own preference. I have attached a video of mine in action as well as some 3d model screenshots and images. I am working on making everything smaller to better blend into the truck. The motor I have now is about half the size of the original ones that are pictured.

Is this something that people are interested in? I am not sure of the cost yet, but it would definitely be above $50. Please let me know by replying to this thread.

I've done a mod or two
I really like the ingenuity behind this and the craftsmanship is great too. But this is the kind of thing I would build as a novelty, just to say I could. Awesome work though, I'm sure there are some that are interested, I remember when a guy built a power unit for the rear sliding window and everyone was all over that.

It looks cool, but between the two extra cabs I've owned they always stay closed.

Mine always stayed closed as well since you cannot reach the passenger one from the driver seat very easily. Now that I have them wired for power I always use them to vent heat out the back when entering the truck on a hot day.

Same for me. They always stay closed, reason being it is a hassle to try and reach back there to open them. If I could open them with the push of a button I would most definitely use them more as a vent.

    Subbed for prices :)

I'm tall enough to open both while driving, but this seems like a good idea.

Wow. Well I'm 5' 9" with my last '99 that was a automatic I could ride with my seat farther back. Since I now have a 5 speed I need to have my seat pushed way more forward to be able to push the clutch all the way in.

Off topic, but I came from a 98 automatic and noticed the same thing with the seat positioning for the clutch. Bummed me out at first.

On topic, I am interested in pricing. It would be neat. Question though, can the Windows still be opened manually without the switch if the power is out?

Depending on price I would be interested. There is a day or two here in Texas between "hot enough to melt shoe soles and cold enough to shut the state down" where windows down driving is possible.

    Wow, very cool.
I like it and would be a buyer depending on the aesthetics of the finished product.
