Just saw this guys, I don't get to be on the forums very much these days...

Those sliders were straight mig, hard wire, from an inverter based machine. I think those pictures are probably from a 85/15 mix gas, as we only recently switched to a different gas. That is welded with a small weave, but the way the inverter puddle is you don't get the stack of dimes look as much. You have to go to wave pulse or have some funky weave patterns for that. Our machine only does wave pulse on aluminum, which is cool, but a PITA.

We're in the process of switching some products (sliders included) over to a Lincoln pulse waveform, but still on hard wire. The welds look even cleaner with that.

I have heard good things about dual shield, but have been told save that for thicker material.

lol they do their job. Somewhat. A few hundred pounds and they're arched negatively. Oh well.

As for that measurement, I am getting just under 22 inches from hub center to bottom of fender flair.

Yeah, I figgered many would chime in along those lines..and honestly I might still keep to that regime as well.... I guess my peace of mind is knowing the engine is loving life after wallowing in its own juices for 7K of hard miles
