Sub ideas for a 2003 Toyota Tacoma

What's is a great idea for sub's in a double cab 2003 Tacoma? I've been trying to find away to pit sub's in my truck without taking space but have no idea how. I've been lookin at the sub box's that are custom fit to go behind the back seat. Are they a good idea and also what amp and sub's should I run if i get the 8" sub box?

I've been running this in my double cab since May...and it's made a 100% improvement in my sound quality. Not going to wake the neighbors, or win any competitions, but it's an excellent and easy double cab friendly sub.

Have it installed under the driver's seat, still leaves room for a passenger or gear in the floorboard behind me.

 

Thanks @iDigTulsa I actually like the idea of the underseat mount and not having to worry about buying all the subs and box's and amp seperate. And I use the space behind my back seat for my camping items so still having it is great. Thanks bud

A couple months ago I installed a Kenwood KSC-SW11 under the driver seat and couldn't be happier. Space is a premium in my access cab, so it wasn't an option sacrificing rear seat/cargo area for a sub. You have a bit more flexibility and space in a DC, though.

It's not overwhelming by any means, but it does add an exceptional amount of low-end considering its diminutive size. This allows you to take out some bass from the mid speakers, increasing the overall sound quality as well. At $145, it performs beyond my expectations. Actually purchased two and intended to put one under the passenger seat as well, but once I fired it up I felt no need. Perhaps down the road I'll install the 2nd one, but I'm in no rush at this point. Just having the one made a big difference.

I was considering an upgrade like Hnull, these powered sub boxes are the way I'm going to go also.

I ran one under the driver and one under the passenger seat in my 03 double cab. Sound was impressive for small boxes and convenient to have the sub and amp all in one tucked under the seats with no loss in cargo space. Have the same ones to install in my 2015 when I get around to it.

 

I'm also running the Sound Ordnance powered sub under my driver's seat. It definitely helps, but its nothing compared to a true 10/12" sub with quality components. It cuts out or gets pretty quiet at any of the lower frequencies.

That being said, I'm still happy with the purchase and would buy it again. Just don't expect true 10-12" subwoofer results.

 

I'm happy with my Kicker Hideaway sub. Just adding to your options.

It was good enough to shake the mirrors and complemented his basically stock system well. Tough to beat for the money honestly.

 

I run the previous version of this sub in my truck under driver's seat. worth the time and effort for the result.
