Jerry Gas Can Attachment

Has anyone added a Jerry Gas Can to their 2016 Tacoma. If you have can you post some pictures with links if possible. Thanks in advance guy!

Looks to be strapped to the side points by a tie-down in the last pic.

 

ya to hold it from rolling but in front of it thats just a bed divider is it not?

this holder a few hours ago. Also ordered these

$24 Te-Co 41406T Black Oxide 1018 Steel Tapped Through T-Slot Nut, 3/8"-16 TPI, 5/8" Height x 7/8" Width x 9/16" Table Slot (Pack of 5)

t-slot nuts, which are said to be a perfect fit for the Tacoma's rails. Going to attach that bracket/holder to one or two of those t-slot nuts.

 

Diggin' the PC-12 in background of your profile pic. Many many hours in those. Good lookin truck too.

I could get them from work easy. in 1/4-20, 3/8 and 1/2

 

Possibly, but I think avoiding the spring would be a good idea - less parts to come apart, get loose, etc.

I'm thinking about using Unistrut pieces to make an interior canopy reinforcement frame, though. Run some corner angle directly under the Thule rails, connecting to their hardware. Run some cross-braces between the two corner angles, and extend angled tubing down to the rails. Should transfer at least some of the weight from the canopy to the rails.

 

the springs help hold the nut in place though?

It doesn't actually have any integral part to it that could 'go wrong' it just helps hold it in place as you assemble.
I use them daily the spring saves a lot of time not fighting with the bolt/rod and spring nut

 

I'm just more comfortable with the idea of a solid piece of metal/nut taking up most of the room within the rail, rather than a smaller piece of metal/nut + spring. I can definitely see them being handy during install time, but how often will you be taking this bracket off/on?

 

I get that point, but if you buy a unistrut nut without the spring its still the same nut.

Besides its the thread that matter. 3/8 are rated for 1800lbs.
1/2 I think is 2400lbs.

So each are pretty strong. Basically strong enough since payload for the taco is only like 1200lbs.
Use what you please. I'm just thinking spring nuts because free is much better than $15USD for a single t slot nut lol.

 

That's actually 5 for $15, but free is still a better deal.

I used a unistrut spring nut to mount a Yakima Blockhead bike-fork mount. It worked fine, but only after I ended up snipping off the springs. I snipped them because the back (i.e. bedside) of the track was not smooth so the spring got hung up as I slid it along the track. Still, it worked and free is clearly better than $15.
