I've never owned a truck before and have no mechanical ability or knowledge. Is it normal to have rust on my rear brakes? See photo. 2016 Tacoma with about 5k miles.

    Thanks.

Ill tell you what. Dont get this truck anywhere near salt water. My brake looked like that and the whole left rear parking brake became stuck shut on the beach with the tide coming in. I had to take the wheel off and beat the dogshit out of it with a pipe to get it to let go.

That's totally normal. It'll happen after you wash the car too. Especially if it's in the sun and you don't drive it right away. It happened on my last new vehicle as well (2014).

Your speaking of rotors I believe.

His photo is of the outside of the rear drum. It's gonna stay that way unless it's cleaned and painted.

Don't park near salt water. It'll rust shit out faster than you can shake a stick

Normal, just clean, sand and paint. No big deal.
