Yes. The eyelet in the gusset should prove superior, though.

My only answer would be; because its Marin County, and I assume most people who live in that area would love to see their tax dollars go towards eliminating all the firearms they can find. That is probably why the event is happening in the first place. lol

I guess if you are not strapping down a Harley in the bed. Not that I would have any need or desire to do so. Or should anyone owning a Tacoma. The multiple eyes are attractive for all that random crap you'd like quick access to at the rear.

I actually will be picking those bed gussets up shortly as well! I just saw those yesterday, and those will definitely help to stop any bed flex from weight on the rails.

Remmy 597 is sold at sporting goods stores like Dick's and Academy and is less than $200 new. So getting more at a shop is unlikely, they have to make money on resale and that price tier of .22 LRs is dominated by Ruger, so it'll either be sold at a cheap price or likely sit on the shelf and collect dust.

    @Mademan925
I don't like the idea of buy backs, but don't really care either. If a guy or girl inherits a firearm and they're not firearm people or don't have the money to be, they're probably going to give it away to someone who wants it or they'll stick it in the corner of the closet as opposed to going out and buying a gun safe so it can be safely stored.

$200 is a cheap price to pay to keep a random firearm from being stolen and put onto the streets in the hands of criminals, and is a far cheaper price than what would be due if a child found a firearm in a closet and severely injured or killed themselves/someone else with it because mom/dad didn't have any investment in the gun or in storing it safely. Tax me all day for that kind of preventative measure.

When the our governor is blowing $40,000 a month on paperclips and pens, I really couldn't care less about spending $10,000 on a gun buy back. They are not the problem with how taxes are being spent.

I remember as a teenager that SF did a similar "buy back" and you could either get cash for firearms or you could get tickets to a 49ers game, your choice. I would assume the tickets were donated and not purchased with funds - so it's a reasonable assumption that buy back funds might be sourced from donations also, or otherwise privately funded by the huge amounts of anti-gun groups here in the SF bay area, not from tax dollars (whole or part).

The point of buy backs has never been to get illegally possessed firearms out of the hands of violent gang members and criminals, it's to prevent legally possessed firearms that are not wanted by their owners from becoming the former.

I have Dodge Sprinter D-Rings on all the bed bolts. Much stronger than the stock tie down.

My parents had firearms in the house when I was growing up that where handed down to them. They didn't know anything about them. They were actually scared of them. They never had any ammo for them and they stored them in the back of their closet. As a kid growing up I knew where they were but I never touched them because I respected fire arms because my grandfather paid for me to go to NRA sports weekends while I was in elementary school. When I became of age the firearms were gladly given to me by my parents. I am glad our family heirlooms were able to be passed down and it would have been sad if my family turned them in for a couple hundred dollars. I do think more owners should be more responsible and im glad we have laws now that require firearms to be locked up if there are residents in the house under age.

Not all are heirlooms, you'd be surprised how many are clapped out pieces of shit and couldn't be reliably fired to begin with at these buy backs.

That said, I agree. I have family firearms going back to the late 1800s and used in the Spanish American war (this particular relative was one of Roosevelt's Rough Riders). They are in great shape and have been well loved and cared for by a family of enthusiasts. But, we don't represent the same families who utilize buy backs to get rid of firearms, heirloom or otherwise.

A good friend of our family served in the Army and became a career LEO, his children and wife were raised around firearms and knew the dangers and yet, his choice to store a firearm in the closet led to the accidental shooting of one child at the hands of the other. Having guns in the house myself and now being a dad, there's no price I wouldn't pay for someone to avoid that lifetime of grief and guilt and the experience of burying a child due to poor decision making.

    Worth every penny, IMHO.

Thanks for the civil convo.. back to our regular programming.

So I just had an interesting experience driving to work. Pulled off my exit and notice a cop is behind me, no problem I wasn't speeding or swerving at all, but my camper brake light isn't working. Make all my normal turns and the cop is right behind, just waiting for the lights to flick on. Sure enough I turn into my business park and there they are. Pull into a parking spot, turn the truck off, roll the window down and wait to find out what I did. All I hear is "Put your hands out the window" WTF? He then asks me if anyone else is in the vehicle, no, and to open my door using the outside handle. At this point I'm so confused and have no clue what is going on as I had just left my house.

He then asks me to lift my shirt and walk backwards to his vehicle. Finally he explains my truck is matching a description of a vehicle involved in a shooting. Now it all makes sense, but not before another 3 cop cars show up, they pat me down, search my truck and take all of my information. The cops were super nice though and handled it perfectly. I totally understood where they were coming from and told them they are fine to search the vehicle more thoroughly if they want (all I have is diapers, car seats and some tools in there). Definitely an eye opening experience though and scared the shit out of me.

Oh yeah and BLACK LIVES MATTER!!!
