I'd like to move back to Nor Cal in a few years, but I remember what an assache it was when I had my 1985 Toyota 4WD truck. Meth heads were stealing them left and right. It was so bad I'd park it in my side yard or block it in when I was not using it

Up here in Humboldt we still have a lot of Tweakers who like to take older toyota's. I have friends who installed kill switches in them so even if somebody got in and started it up, they wouldn't get down the block.

Crime is everywhere, you can't escape it sadly.

One of the reasons I had Toyota keep the dealer-installed alarm on my truck when I bought it last March. First gens are hot ticket theft items in SoCal, unfortunately. And no alarm or theft deterrent device will keep a pro thief at bay if they really want your truck, be sure to have good insurance.

A few years ago I had my 2004 Double cab 4x4 Tacoma stolen out of my driveway one night. Never got it back. I am sure it is in Afghanistan right now with a 50 cal. mount in the bed.
