Nothing wrong with that logic..... as it makes perfect sense.

Just because someone has that logic -doesn't mean they're careless.

Hell - take my gas, take my CAT, take my tailgate.....just don't take my truck!!

I've got a zero deductible on my car insurance - why would I buy a $250 gas tank skid? (I don't offroad)

A locking gas cap is a cheap preventative..... insurance won't cover gas that you've lost. But they will cover the tank they've drilled a hole into (for me anyway).

^That's a good point about the deductible but, alas, I have the standard $500 ded. I should probably up it but expenses are tight. My whole thing is, why make it easy? I fight for everything in life (fight = work hard, stand up for what's right, etc) and I'm going to make it as hard as possible for someone to steal from me.

And I'm still glad I got to quote Sgt Hartman.

Not pointing fingers (Toyota parts guy Salem,OR, Roland, and others) but I DID get my gas siphoned - twice. Both times they made off with 5-6 gal. Any better solutions than locking caps? Has anyone fashioned a locking fuel door. Why is Toyota ignoring the problem?

Well, for one thing, someone siphoning your fuel is not any automakers responsibility, although offering a properly functioning locking gas cap as an option is a nice; but not required touch. As for a locking door, I would remove the tab/arm from the inner door, since a good screwdriver will pry it open in about 2 seconds; than you will have to purchase a $50.00-150.00?? new door, and then have to pay someone to paint it for you. That is if the only damage is to the door itself and not the bed side panel which could add quite a bit more to the total.

I'm not calling you a liar but it is damn near impossible to siphon gas from a Tacoma. I'll put it this way, try it yourself and see if you can do it.
