Skid plates for 2016

On to the next wave of mods for my rig. My 2wd is 95% highway use, but I am considering getting skid plates. What brand is the most recommended and any other armor I should get? Transfer skid plate? Transmission skid plates? Rock sliders?

When I do go on the trails it will mostly be going to the gun range and to big bear when winter season comes. Any and all help is appreciated!

Front IFS skid is pretty important. Protects the oil pan and trans pan.

 

I was looking at the bpf skid but it looks kinda small compared to other skids from other vendors. Which ifs skids do you recommend?

 

Look at mobtown offroad, pelfreybilt, BAMF, RCI, etc.

 

Take a look at the TRD Pro skid, p/n PTR60-35160. Excellent plate 1/4 inch aluminum. Available from Olathe Toyota Parts for about $381 shipped.

 

the pro is nice. but costs more than a more beefy aftermarket piece

 

A transfer skid plate for 2wd? Hmmmm.

Maybe there's a 95% chance you won't need those things....dunno

 

Why waste the money on all those skids for a 2wd that spends its life on asphalt? Invest in some pretty lights or something that might be useful.

But if you insist on a front skid I would recommend the BPF skid. I had it on my 16' and liked it. Now @Sdshooter has it on his & from what I gather he likes it.
