2013 Tacoma Prerunner 2.7L automatic. 40k miles. The transmission dipstick, when cold, shows fluid level about 1/4" above the top notch above the "hot" level. Is this over filled and can it cause any damage?

Are you checking while the engine is running?

Check the fluid per the owner manual and report back what you find.

I suspect it will be just fine.

My '06 Avalon transmission dip stick reads at the full mark when cold.

But...that is not the way to check transmission fluid.

ok, so I took the Tacoma out for a quick 20 minute stroll and came back to check the transmission fluid. Pulled into the garage, shifted through all the gears and pulled the stick. Fluid is right on the letter "H" about the second notch. Nice red color!.

    Thanks for the advice.
