Oh lawdy, there's a bunch. Naches / Bumping lake, Penrose Point, Beckler River. Those all hit the major thoroughfares without much deviation. Penrose is out there though, but worth it. Deception Pass is the epitome of the PNW. Make reservations though.

Only reason I would move to florida would be to have a boat to go to the bahama's/off shore fishing with. And the weather (besides humidity)

I went to Lake Michigan for a family reunion I couldn't believe the clarity of the water. I wish I had the time to dive it. Still a little too cold for my winter taste.

South Carolina is the armpit of the south, but is quite beautiful. Charleston has the friendliest people, and great natural beaches. I would like to go there to retire from a beach town in Florida. If you do check Florida, Ponte Vedra Beach is top notch. Nothing like it in the state.

Hurricane Jeanne ripped my roof off in 2004. Place had to be condemned. Oceanfront too. :annoyed:

I'm hoping to retire in 10 yrs (I'll be 56).

Most other considerations being relatively equal.....my #1 consideration is an income tax free state.

South Carolinas Lake Keowee looks like a lot of what I'm looking for and in the price range. Might be a little hot and humid in the summers but that may be a good time to travel the North West

A little of this and a little of that.
Lake Hartwell is just south of Lake Keowee. It has lakefront in Georgia and South Carolina.
