thanks greg it looks like the header will be my next performance mod and probably retain the stock exhaust at least for now thanks for doing all the research i understand it's for your benefit primarily but sharing it is a great thing to do for the rest of us who don't have access to a dyno

Built for maximum low end torque, tooter II.VII intake manifold spacer, LCE long tube header, Injen long tube intake, 2,900 rpm torque peak.
    It's my pleasure. :)
I sold enough 2.7 Tacoma and 1.5 Yaris tooters to cover all of the dyno testing expenses so it basically cost me nothing.

Thank you also, for blazing the trail. Your various posts on various threads have outlined the "formula", as well as the break-down of what the various ingredients in the "formula" are worth by themselves, in making up the end result. You did a lot of good investigative footwork, to get the results that you did in presentable format.

I'm looking for a bit of usable torque on grades, to return.. so an LCE it will be, in a continuation of your experiment. It's either that, or it's a borderline need to re-gear to 3.73 (ouch!) with a new 3rd member. That is running 16x7's on LT225/75R16's -29.3" vs 215/70R15 - 26.9".. A happy compromise between preserving fuel efficiency, and hauling utility. It does otherwise fine on flat grades, and i'd rather try this route first, than go the much more expensive re-gear with a replacement 3rd member route the 5-lug 5-speeds need to go, to run much higher than 30". I actually like the marginally improved fuel economy of the present gearing with it turning lower RPM's at highway speeds.. but i've got a few highway bridge grades, that keep you rowing from 5th-4th-3rd-4th just to maintain velocity.

Incidentally, i also have a freshly warrantied catalytic (nice clean, unrusted bolts!) assembly, and a 22" Magnaflow already squirreled away, as per some of your testing. The stock muffler wasn't rusty enough to replace ... yet.

Interesting, parallel paths.. my trade-in for the econo-Tacoma, was the 2007 Yaris 3 door hatch. Fun little Mario-Kart. Mine came with the bigger alloy Toyota Accessories rims, with the low-profile sport tires.

I have read this whole thread. a lot of good info here. and for what's it's worth I have done some of the upgrades mentioned on here. I have the LCE headers, kept the two cats, and put in the LCE exhaust from the back of the cat. I also put in the AFe stage two cai. Now when I was talking to gadget from URD he said to get the best result and any true performance out of any cai you need to use a MAF calibrater. which I have but have not installed it yet. because the calibrater has a blank map I have to map it myself. But as of now the performance I'm getting is good and noticed a nice I crease of speed an TQ. so to the OP I hope this helps you out.

How has all of this affected the fuel economy? And the LCE long tube bolted right in place up to the factory cats?
