Just added some KMC 122 Endure wheels, 15x7, and 235/75/15 tires. I am getting a little rubbing on hard turns on the front tires. Just wondering what advice people have for getting rid of that problem.

Thinking about lifting it an inch or an inch and a half. Would that be enough to clear the tires ? Does anyone have any suggestions on which type of lift would be best. I am not looking to spend more than $500.

I have also briefly read about people trimming part of the bumper that rubs. What do you use to trim it ? Or do you take it in to a shop ?

Goodyear Wrangler TrailMark 31's. F.B's 2.75" spacer, TRD rear shocks, stub antenna, ripped out charcoal filter added AFE dry, Chrome grille, upgraded to SR5 sun visors, variable wipers, backup camera, HID DDM 35w 5000kv, ebay fogs w/yellow LEDs.
From the size of those tires looks like you need a lift. 2.75" at least. Being a first gen you got lots of options.

Okay, so I lifted my 2003 5 lug Taco about a month ago. I used the Fabtech Stealth Lift Kit and love it. When I installed the lift kit, the front end tires sat wider than the rear. I ended up ordering spacers for the rear tires to even things out. I went with Bora custom spacers (Through Motorsport-tech.com) for my truck and had them make 30mm spacers (The biggest they could offer). So my suggestion is to go ahead and buy 2 custom spacers for your truck and put them in the front, NOT the BACK. If that works and solves the rubbing problem great! If it doesn't, lift the truck and put the two spacers in the back.

    Hope this helps

The Fabtech Lift Kit will cost you about $850 but it's all worth it.

Where are they rubbing? Trimming and spacers should alleviate most of the rubbing right? I don't know much about 5 lugs

Hmm ok thanks for the help. I have been looking around at different lift/leveling kits. I have also been looking into trimming. I am most likely going to trim away part of the front bumper, and put in a leveling kit in there. I want to try and avoid lifting if I can, or at least keep it as minimal as necessary. What kind of tires do you have and how much did you lift ?

Its rubbing against the front bumper on full turns and hard corners.

Sounds like the problem may be the choice of wheel and tire combo? Wrong offset and sizes to fit correctly?

If so, you might find a buyer for the whole shebang and start over with the right parts.

Or, I suspect smaller tires would be cheaper than a decent lift. And especially since you want to avoid a lift.

235x70 are 1" shorter, so 1/2" in radius. Wouldn't you think that would be enough to give the clearance you need? Since you say you are getting a 'little' rubbing. You can use the tire calculator to determine other options/diameters as well.

The tires you have will fit perfectly on a 2nd gen 5 lug with stock wheels. You shouldn't have trouble selling them.

I've got a 3 inch lift on both the front and back. I'm running 30/9.5R15 tires. Looks like you've got some choices now! 235/70R15 tires, trimming, and/or spacers. I'm having trouble finding a leveling kit for your 5 Lug..

lift it with a spacer and you will be fine.

I did a little trimming today. I took off about an inch from the lower part of the front bumper. The tires rub much less now. They still rub when turned all the way and going over uneven surfaces. For example having the tires completely turned right as I pull into the driveway still causes some rubbing.

I am going to trim a little bit more, and also get a leveling kit. Not sure on how much lift I need to clear the tires. Any suggestions ? @Rolis12 you don't think I could get away with less than 2.75 ??
