Had an amazing time camping with my sons this weekend but on the way home found my elbow sticking to the armrest on the driver side door. So how do I remove pine sap from the textured vinyl? Thanks in advance for your help.

I did a clay treatment to remove sap before. It also works great to get tar off.

Oops. Thought it was for the paint. Use goof off.

I worked on a Christmas tree farm all of my teen years. Used to come home arms covered in tree sap, isopropyl alcohol seemed to work pretty well. Gasoline and WD40 worked best, but isopropyl alcohol probably won't dissolve vinyl :)

I think acetone would work real good or, lighter fluid. I don't think alcohol alone is a very good cleaner. Trouble with the vinyl a solvent will probably fade it out a little bit. I used to climb pine trees as a kid and as other have said a handful of leaded gasoline worked best.

Lemon oil works great on organic materials like sap.

Lacquer thinner on a micro fiber will remove 100% of the sap on paint or glass. Never use on plastics. Do not let it sit for an extended period of time or you'll damage the clear coat. It will literally wipe right off with minimal scrubbing. I work for a detailing company and it's what we use.

As a yout I used to get into all kinds of mischief, including climbing a big white pine tree which always laid down a nice thick sap skid mark down my little kid bowl cut. The product "Skin So Soft" takes sap right out and is safe for babies.... so should be safe for trucks right? Unsure if they still make the stuff.

Everything you guys list I'd never touch my interior with.

USE LIGHTER FLUID, GASOLINE, DIEZHUL, WD40. Shit won't stain at all!

I like the waters waterless hand cleaner. The stuff that has no grit. It takes the sap off as fast as anything I have used in the past and it doesn't break down the clear coat on the paint.

    GOJO is a good one.

Freeze it, pop it off. Compressed Air in a can, upside down.

You can also wet a dryer sheet and rub it over the pine sap. Has worked well for me in the past.

ah man all the harsher chemical ideas are rough on paint over time

all these will work pine sap off with some cotton cloth rubbing
    peanut butter
    normal butter
any oil...from olive oil to 3-in-one oil
    vaseline (works friggin great BTW)

Surprised no one has mentioned hand sanitizer (gel ethanol), which works very well on removing sap. Because its a gel, it will sit on the sap without running off. Give it 10 min to dissolve the sap, wipe off. I imagine it might be less likely to damage the interior vinyl compared to some other options that have been proposed.

Now, if modern science could figure out how to get *sunscreen* stains off the armrests and the door liners, I would be a happy guy. That shit's impossible to remove.
