It is shit that dealers tack on to make more money. All worthless, like extended warranties.

Edit: (Correction) The monkey is worth it. The rest isn't.

    1. Problably VIN etching on the windows (not worth it). Could also be a very basic security system (meh).

    2. No idea. Probably some kind of hardened sealant they apply?

Either way, I would *never* pay for either of them, nor let the dealer flow those costs elsewhere into the deal. Example: "oh dear, your trade value just dropped".

2nd one is "insurance" for your wheels and tires.
kiss a curb and they'll repair the wheel, or if you get a tire puncture, the tire will be replaced instead of repaired.
bend a wheel and they replace it..
    there may be a deductible.

usually these plans have some limiting factors. but if the tires are covered for punctures, this is a great way to get new tires when yours are half worn out.. "randomly find a nail in the road" and you get a new tire out of it.. do this 4 times in a short period of time and you got yourself a new set of tires. im not saying this is what i recommend.. but i have seen it done.

or you can be an honest human being and only use this plan when you actually need it.

Correct. First in pretty sure will be a window etching. If not it will be another bullcrap security thing where they just rage the vin to a computer system incase it gets stolen to better help recover the vehicle. Nothing the police and your insurance aren't going to do. Not worth the money at all!

The second I believe will be a insurance for your rims and tires. There are some limitations but the ones we sell at our dealership are pretty decent. If you have a blow out or someone vandalized your wheels or tires they usually cover it. It's not a bad add on.

If you choose to keep any, definitely keep the wheel and tire package. Don't keep the etching at all

Yeah, on my funcar I got that plan. Four years, two rims and four run flat tires later it's paid for itself twice over and still has another year to go!

I traded my 2013 Tacoma in,haggled for 2 weeks before accepting this agreement as the best of 4 I worked on with other dealers. Never once was this mentioned in our talks, but when I went over the paper at home there it was as part of the deal I signed. Pretty underhanded I think. However I should have seen it before signing,my own fault, but still underhanded!!!

Yeah no sense in buying the extended warranty when Toyota is handing them out like candy with the major low mileage warranty repairs required. Save your money, you'll get a free one in a few months...

Very shady indeed. Unfortunate you didn't catch it when you were singing though. When i was on final signing day for my 12' Taco i ran the numbers that were laid out in the agreement paragraphs and it added up to over my agreed price. Included tax, interest, etc.
I caled him out on it and he's like oh don't know why that's in there (1600$)... I stayed on the higher ground for the rest of the conversation but later he admitted that 99% of customers NEVER run the final numbers before they sign....

Crazy to think about when it's usually a person's 2nd biggest purchase.

This was my local dealer and I had strong hollering matches and walked several times. Of the other 3 dealers they were all $ 500 or more higher,so this was a great deal in the end comparing, but holy crap he was lower ,but was away lower if you knock off the aprox. 800 4 this shit??

How long ago was this? If you read the contract for the protection you may be able to cancel and get a pro-rated refund.

Yes most you can cancel and it's usually prorated. Most of the time you'll fully end up getting your money back if you cancel right away

I surely didn't think I needed wheel protection on my wifes' car, until she bent both on the right side. $1600.

The only item added to the purchase of my Taco was GAP... I see the options on my paperwork for the 2 items you listed, but mine were left unchecked (not added). You should be able to cancel them if done within the stated 'Cancellation' timeframe... I would call Toyota Financial first before going straight to the dealer you purchased it from. Once sold, it's out of the dealers hands and into yours and the financial institutions to deal with in most cases. 1-800-874-8822 is TFS or you can call Toyota Customer Service (corporate) 1-800-331-4331... I work for a Toyota dealership and concerns such as this are usually always directed towards one of those two 'departments'.

It sounds like you just put a deposit down on the truck, right? $500? If so, when your truck arrives and it's time to do all the official paperwork, clarify with the finance manager you'll be working with what you do and do not want. Read everything before signing! Where I work, the finance team is great, they don't try to push you into anything you don't want/need (they offer, of course, but not pushy). Hopefully the dealership you're working with is like that.

Yes that is exactly right, sounds like the tire one may be ok,but nothing was explained the salesmanager just took my deposit and slipped these two items in,and while I looked briefly over what I was signing,I was mainly interested in the final numbers, and never noticed the add ons,as he kept talking to me,my fault!! Thank you. Any where I might actually find out whether these are good,or at least read up on them?
