An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Dose anyone know if a stock Tacoma with off road tiers can do Colockum Pass. I've talked to a couple of people and it sounds like it's a rough go and that you need a lift. Others I've talked to say it's not that bad. Just wondering if any one here has gone over the pass and might have some insight. Not afraid to push it some (less than two months old and already pin striped), just don't want to end up with body damage.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
I ran it stock with street tires in May. Its not challenging, just bumpy. Its an old wagon road, take it slow and expect to be rattled by the rocks and you'll be fine.

I was up there in the spring time so I couldn't make it all the way through but if what I did was any indication of what the rest of the road is like then you'll be just fine with a stock setup.

Thanks for the information. After talking to a few people and form what I'v herd here, a stock Tacoma should be fine. Maybe a new dent in the skid plate if I'm not paying attention , but I already have that so no problems.

Welcome to Washington! Both Suntop and Stampede are great areas. I'm sure you already noticed, but Stampede Pass has a ton of areas to explore. You could spend days wondering around that area, and then end up in the Naches area and spend another had full of days exploring. Suntop not as much, but there is still plenty of areas to explore there, like Haller Pass and Lonesome Lake area.
The main reason I asked about the Colockum area is that I was getting mixed info. on how rough the road is.

I went over that entire trail back in the mid-90s through to Wenatchee; early in the spring with snow about 5 inches or so, just after the gravel and large rock road had been graded.
Rock as large as 10 or 12 inches and some larger were pulled out of the trail bedding by grader.
It was tough with my RWD 1967 Datsun:mudding:
My thoughts are the road conditions will be impacted by the grading work, snow remaining, and amount of rain on that day.

Went over the pass this weekend. It was fun. Not deep by any means, but enough to get some drifting in the corners and I did have to dig myself out once. It was COLD up there. 23 degrees before the wind chill.

Ran the trail again yesterday. I drove along as passenger this round, but we did have a 2nd gen in the group doing some serious work. The 2nd gen got stuck up above the axles in a drift, tried to use the 100 series to pull it out and it ended up stuck. An hour of digging and we eventually got both rigs out. Here is the 2nd gen doing some work pulling the 100. The going was far tougher this time than the last. Still pretty fun up there!
