This is Tariq! He is my 2005 DCSB TRD Off Road Taco which I managed to get from a family friend about a year and a half ago! His road with me has been short and sweet thus far, as I seem to find a way to turn just about every paycheck into some sort of modification!

Tariq is an arabic name, loosely translated as "conqueror!" Let me tell you... the most consistent conquering this truck does involves my bank account :ohsnap:

    Hopeful Mods to Come:
My Wallet Can't Handle Any More

    Humble Beginnings
    [IMG]
Here he is in all his freshly detailed glory the day I bought him from a family friend. I honestly knew nothing about these trucks or just how much they could be modified... All I knew was that I was going to take the "Off Road" sticker above the rear wheel to heart!:mudding:

This was the first time I had taken Tariq off the beaten path. An old train track maintenance road full of ruts, dips, and mud galore saw his (and my) off road baby steps!

    Let the Modding Begin!

After a while, I got sick of Tariq looking like every other speedway blue Taco out there... But, finding myself in a spot without much spending money, I opted for the very cheap (and actually really fun) Plasti-Dip road! The wheels, Toyota emblem, and "chin" valence were first!

    Next came the grille surround.

... and finally, the badges (sides and tailgate)!

    $There Goes the Dough!$
    [IMG]

Now came time for the big boy mods! In the winter, with sand in the back and the rather heavy tonneau on, the rear leafs would bottom out over parking lot speed bumps. I took this as a big flashing green light for new suspension. This came in the form of an Old Man Emu overhaul! New coilovers in the front and new leafs in the back! A buddy of mine who lives for his Jeep helped me to install all of it... and after nearly 8 hours of lying on my back in his garage, the taller Tariq was born!

    KILL THAT CHROME!

I got sick of seeing that big, shiny chrome rear bumper that is characteristic of the TRD Off Road. The chrome emblems and grille surround had been plasti-dipped. However, there was no way I was going to try and use that cheap stuff for this metallic monster! I found the answer to my problem in the form of spray on bed-liner, which covered the chrome in the most bad-ass looking of ways!
Here, you can spy that custom name badge on the tailgate! :bananadance:

    The Facelift
    [IMG]

Apart from being a bit taller or a bit darker here and there, Tariq had thus far maintained his factory shape. However, change was on the wind! So, on a cold day in December, my big blue pal felt the comfort of his stock bumper for the final time...
and said "HELLO!" to his new CBI Moab 2.0 bumper!

    Latest addition:
Took the stock badges off of the tailgate, dipped the "Tariq" badge, and installed a classic styled decal like on the original pickups!

    All Pro Rock Sliders!

Thanks to the Group Buy set up by u/mstudt, I got my hands on some All-Pro Rock Sliders! They're just the standard sliders, so I had to have a friend help me out with welding them on to the frame! But they are STRONG, they look great, and I'm sure they'll come in handy with the summer coming up!

    :wave:To: McManzus18, Love: McManzus18:yay:

For some reason, my subconscious hates money! $$---> :bucket:So, as a last "Hoorah" I went ahead and re-shoed the big blue beast! Out with the plasti-dipped OEM wheels and in with the 16x8.5 MB 352's! Out with the tiny, minuscule 265/75/r16 BF Goodrich KO's and in with the 285/75/r16 BF Goodrich KO2's! (Don't worry, the near-new tires that I just replaced are going to good Colorado homes to be used as spares. ;))

He may not be the craziest build on the site, but I'm proud the say that my heart beats black and blue for this money pit daily driver of mine!:bowdown: I can also proudly say that I have fought through each of the installs of both minor mods and major projects, so the old boy finally feels like he's truly mine!

Thanks for viewing! :D Go Tacomas!
