True value has a huge hardware section and they sell a bunch of plastic hole plugs and stuff like that. Might be a great and cheap way to do it.

I will check them out soon but not in love with plugs either. I just want a bracket to move plate up "just enough" to clear most of light on a flush kit. I would be in love! I will play with over the weekend maybe and see what I can come up with and then find someone to make it maybe.

These exist. Someone posted in one of my threads about it. There was one on Amazon I think.

I understand. If you want to ask any questions about the process I went through or I can offer any help in you figuring out what you want to do then just let me know, regardless if you are interested in the product I have to offer or not. Developing the low mount bracket was a lengthy process of trial and error through which I learned quite a bit. I might be able to offer some advice to save you some time and effort.

Thanks man. I searched a bit and have something like this in mind in terms of adjusability...obviously no need for tow hook attachment. I just need to see play with plate to see if it would be too high or not give enough clearance.

Ironically enough, one of my other vehicles is a MINI and I have that exact same style plate holder on the car. The problem with using that idea on the Tacoma is that there is nothing to hold the plate to the side unless you are drilling into the bumper cover in a different place. It is possible to make a bracket that will come through the bumper openings in the middle of the bumper and fit in that location but there is no elegant way to do that without the bracket actually showing. I have toyed with the idea of extending the bottom part of the bracket I make in order to offset the plate to one side or the other. Depending on the model year Tacoma it would be easier to make it work for the earlier style Tacomas (2005-2011) since the bumper cover fastening points are farther apart than the 2012-2015. To this point no one has requested that style so I have not had a reason to work out a solution to make it happen. Are you trying to have your license plate sit above the bottom bumper opening that many people are sticking light bars in or are you trying to lower it and move it to the side of the truck?

Center but higher if there is room. Already have holes and hate look of filled/plugged holes. Love the idea of adding this bar but plate will block large portion of middle. I just like the vertical adjustability of that mini bracket I linked.

Some people have moved the plate up and mounted it by the two bottom holes on the license plate, using the same to mounting holes that are already there and thereby placing the plate in the middle of the bumper. Personally I like the aesthetics of the plate down lower, regardless if I had a light bar or not but I understand that different people like different styles.

Does anyone know if the bottom grill comes off rather than cutting it for the flush mount?

You have to cut it, no other way. It's all one part. On the 12-15 bumpers the lower part that isn't painted can be replaced if you wanted to go back, but you still have to cut the fins out for the install of the flush mount.

Also in other news more related to this thread, new pods are coming in the next 3 weeks. I have been working with @CaliRaisedLed and they are making some awesome new pods for me. Same 18W Amber or White LEDs as before, same Cali Raised quality and output, but now I will have a lot more in stock and they will have the super sweet Apex logo on them. I know it's something little and the same for you guys, but I am excited none the less. Here is a sample of the laser etching we finalized yesterday on a scrap part.
