I recently bought my taco about a month an a half ago. The guy I bought it from told me whenever he gets in a hurry and tries to start the truck up it will start up and then when he puts it in gear it shuts off like there is no fuel. He said it used to only do it when its cold outside. I live in South Carolina so i don't experience extreme cold temperatures. When i bought it he said it hasn't happened in about a month, so from what i understand is that it hasn't happened in about 3 months give or take. It has never done it to me, but he said when it happens that i have two options. Option one is to pop the hood disconnect the battery and reconnect it and it will start right back up or. Option two is wait about 5-10 minutes and then it will start up. To me this sounds like a computer issue, but I'm not really sure. He said he replaced the fuel filter and when he bought it the salesmen told him that was the first fuel filter he had ever sold for a Tacoma, and the problem continued after he replaced it. The truck has 185,000 miles on it and I defiantly crank it a longer than when I drive my dads 2014 ecoboost f150. The other day getting in my truck after work i had to crank it twice to get it ti start up. This is the first I've had to do that. I would appreciate any suggestions. The truck is a 2008 trd off road prerunner been in SC every since it was bought new.

The tacoma doesnt have a conventional fuel filter. Its a part of the fuel pump and is meant to last the life of the truck.

I'm sorry I meant the pump but my whole point was that it was replaced and did not solve the problem.
