Can anyone suggest a good shock for the money? I'm not looking to spend a bunch. I know they're pretty expensive, so I'm looking to get the best bang for my buck. Thanks.

I'm pretty happy with the pro comps I put on. I needed to replace stock shocks due to damage and these ride much better than stock. They are much cheaper.

Bilstein 5100's....They have some (front) adjustability if you choose to raise the truck. Valving is essentially the same as stock TRD Bilstein (4600's) so they work well within parameters of stock suspension.

Thanks everyone. I hope this does the trick. I'm having front end issues. The front end seems "loose" when when driving over normal road conditions, bumps, potholes, etc. When I hit a bump or pothole, the front end kind of "rattles". I was told to replace the shocks. Kind of an expensive fix for it maybe to be the problem. I checked tie rods, they were good. I don't know of anything else it could be. Am I overlooking something? Just a thought.

How many miles on the truck? Where are you located? What roads do you drive on? Eg, hwy, street, dirt, forest? Have you checked ball joints, wheel bearings, all tie rods, and power steering? When's the last time you had an alignment? When you look at the shocks, do they appear to be leaking, have oil coming down from them? Have you done a bounce test? Pressing up and down on the body of the truck to get it to bounce and see how much it moves and how long it takes to stabilize.

I have 158,000 on the truck. I drive normal roads hwy, interstate etc. No trails, or anything like that. I haven't checked the wheel bearings. There is no leaks from the shocks, and the bounce test is ok. I just put new tires on it last month and had it aligned.
I also haven't checked ball joints, but I've had that problem before in my jeep I kind of know about that. I don't think it's the ball joints. I'm located in Greenville SC. Yea I know the roads are awful here. It's a wonder the damb front end hasn't completely fell apart. Lol

158k puts a decent amount of wear on suspension. Another thing to look at is your control arm bushings. Lowers you put a pry bar between then and the fram and pry. If you see movement, bushings may be shot. With the wheels off the ground you can check BJ's and wheel bearings. Use a pry bar in between the ground and the tire to check for movement, if there is, find out where it's coming from. Also, check the torque on your lower control arm cams, should be 100ft#'s or more. Another check is to place one hand on top of tire and one on bottom and try and rip the wheel off. If there's movement, check where it's coming from. One thing is that you want to lock your steering wheel, but you'll still get a little movement there, so keep that in to consideration.
