IMG_6751.jpg Saw these chips in my rear bumper today. I have no idea how they occurred. I haven't hit anything. Less than 1100 miles on truck. I am hoping this is not a sign of things to come with the painted plastic parts. Anyone else see this crap?

Unfortunately I got one just above my grill at around 3000 miles. Also on painted plastic.

Do you drive gravel roads? I can see rocks kicking up and doing that.

Some assclown in a parking lot probably smacked it with a cart, shopping basket, door, etc. Most people have their heads up their asses and dont care about other people's stuff.

    sorry your paint got chipped.

yeah, i have chips in those same spots on my chrome bumper. My microfiber towel always snags on them when i'm washing my truck. I don't know what causes it, seems like a weird angle for rocks/debris to get kicked up from the tires, but that is all I can think it could be.

Is it possible a mower or a string trimmer sent some gravel pieces into your bumper?

Not that it solves the puzzle, but interesting on how the two chips are only on the creases or corners of the bumper

For sure. Perhaps the paint is under tension due to shrinkage upon drying. The paint is likely a reduced urethane. We would need to make a deep incision on the corner of a sacrificial plastic panel to test the theory.

Do you have kids in the neighborhood that play in your driveway? Do you regularly move a trashcan past your truck?
