I went under my 3rd gen looking for the perks to grease and found the drive shaft leaking oil at this rubber boot where it connects to the rear. Does anyone know if this is normal and exactly what it is? Thank you in advance.

I don't know if that smear would concern me a whole lot, unless I'm missing something. I keep a sheet of cardboard in my garage to watch for fluids and drips. If it were leaking grease out of the boot you'd know it.

I'm new to tacomas but built drive shafts for years so not new to those. Jeeps and everything with these new CV style or "GKN" heads have some residual on the outside. Listen for whizzing or squealing. That would indicate an actual problem.

Can we just turn this into a Crown Royal thread?

There's these places around Shreveport called Daiquiri Express and they have frozen coke that they will mix with pretty much any spirit you like. Happy hour starts at 4 which means buy one get one free.

I'm currently half way through a 32oz frozen Crown & Coke and have another in the freezer. It's gonna be a good night.

So what was your question again?

I saw EXACTLY what you described on my new 2017. Even a greenish tint to it. Not sure what it is but you aren't alone.

I will one of these days. I like Royal Reserve Rye Whiskey, so there is no reason I won't like the CR Rye. Ok, is the driveshaft still leaking after drinking a bottle of Crown Royal! :D
